We have a mid field with an 18 year old kid as the leader...who I might add, id doing very well...

Now, I'll make it simple for you...because you obviously need simple.

If our mids are shit and the opposition mids are better than ours, and Sandilands is winning the rucks, what do you think will happen?
They might perhaps have a mid even two that roves to his taps rather than their own? They might win more 50/50 balls? Our midfield is often made of defensive taggers as we don't have the quality to compete to limit the damage rather than ball winners...what do you think will happen here?
A couple of qustions.

Why isn't Sandi then, the "leader" of the mids, if you think he is still doing so well?

And secondly, why has it been a problem for a number of years? Since Sandi has been our number 1.

Am I speaking Swahili?

Could it be  our midfiled is shit? ANd apart from Haselby, has always been shit? and Haselby has been unfit since at least 2005?

Anyone that's played enough footy realises that a good ruckman will make a bad midfield look good.

If it's tapped right to your chest, you aren't going to drop it less than 5 times out of 10.

With the dominance Sandi has, we should be getting at least a 50/50 chance, and we simply aren't. His tap outs are abysmally inaccurate. You only had to see the highlights package on the weekend to see how badly Sandi was missing open targets.

And no-one thus far has been able to answer my question about Warnock. With Sandi's contract, what motivation does Warnock actually have to stay?

Cheers for actually reading what im on about chops...

the last act of a broken man lach is to turn to personal insults...

IM talking about Sandilands skills... Our midfield dont control his innate ability around the ground...

Sandi was still doing nothing during our "run" in 06... if anything we were better off because he was less involved in the play...

Sandi is a prime example of what our club does wrong... without proving himself ever! except maybe the geelong game recently which is a disgrace considering how many cracks he has had, we throw a bucket load of money and respect to guys who haven't completely earned their spot in our team.

Say what you want about Warnocks apparent Babyness... you cannot deny his skills aren't far better than sandilands... as a complete footballer im talking about not your pointless 12 taps to palmer for 8 games statistics

WARNOCK VS SANDILANDS SKILLS COMPARISON

Hitouts Numbers -
Sandi

Hitouts to freo player -
Hard to measure but i doubt warnock could give three times more to the opposition like sandi

Handball Skill-
Warnock

Kicking Skill-
Warnock

Agility-
Warnock

Speed-
Warnock

Disposal Efficiency-
Warnock

Gas Tank-
Warnock

Marking-
Sandilands but i would say hardly by alot

Look your possession argument is silly because at the end of the day the opposition dont even worry about sandi during the play, if you watch you will notice they dont care where he goes or what he does during the play, they know he wont hurt them if he has the ball

Bingo...

Thats exactly it what motivation does he have to stay... and im sure this is the point we both originally made about the way the club deals with things... It wouldnt suprise me if the club has said "well we want you to stay but hey we think sandilands may dominate one day... why we dont know but hey is tall so thats gotta be good right... but yeah we would like it if you would stick around... heres 2 tickets to the game, take someone special"

All i can hope is that he has made some good mates here at the club who can talk him into stying, i also hope the club will give him a proper crack in the ruck and some decent game time so he can show what he has

You're overcomplicating it.

If Warnock's good enough, he'll get a game.

If he's a better player than Sandiland's, he'll get a game.

If he shows consistent form, he'll get a game.

Ok.

It's been pretty obvious that Keplar is a better tap ruckman than our #1.

QUOTE]

Seriously, Kep isn't a great tap ruckman, good as he is around the ground. You guys are insane if you seriously think he's a better tap ruckman than the bloke leading the league in hitouts. That's laughable.

If Sandi had a semi-competent midfield to tap to he'd be All Australian every year.

Warnock is competing with Kepler and Kepler only as they're the only 2 ruck options we have, and on Kep's good form the last 2 weeks he probably deserves a game, but I still think Warnock should be playing 2nd ruck, with Kep as a permanent forward.

...and what exactly does this contract say? You'll never play while Sandilands is in the team?

We have shown a willingness to play a mobile player in the ruck eg Gilmore, and Kepler and you know, we wouldn't be even having this argument about J-Lo because he demanded his spot...Warnock is unfortunately under the potential column, and if he'd busted his nuts a-la Kepler he'd be getting a game...simple as that....

If anyone else wants jump in here feel free :D

OK, lach. :p

I don't think it's fair to say that Sandi is a liability around the ground. He's been improving, particularly his marking. Warnock hasn't shown any more mobility than Sandi. In fact, it was obvious in the Bulldogs game how much more Kepler did around the ground than either Sandi or Warnock would usually do (but Kepler had 2 hit outs in that game).

Now, I don't think Sandi will ever be a finesse type ruckman. He's no Dean Cox and he never will be. But he's still a very valuable ruckman. When Sandi was injured, we all saw how useful Warnock can be. A more deft ruckman for sure. But that kind of form has deserted him, and now he appears to be ready to pull up stumps and leave at the end of the season.

Is this a player management issue? We played two immobile seven footers against Richmond and got belted by 10 goals. There would seem to be an issue in playing Sandi and Warnock in the same team. What we've seen of Kepler so far would suggest that he has something to offer this team. So what is there to be upset about? Warnock will either leave, or he'll stay and eventually become the excellent ruckman we know he can be. :)

I agree.

Why on Earth did we give Sandi his absolutely massive contract when he hadn't earnt it? Still hasn't shown anything apart from one game.

Are you serious?

Sandi is a bloody good player and easily in our top 5 players.

Now if Sandilands was to go onto the open market - then you would see some bidding action.

I wonder if we would be better off sending him to melbourne and trying to get their No.1 pick... would rather see Nats in our team than sandi in years to come...

Theres no over complication to the issue, it all started because these moronic supporters are calling for warnocks blood because they apparently all of a sudden believe the media? do they not realise the media love doing this crap...

My point is we shouldnt do what we always do and get rid of a young guy with potential... ala White, Polak, Medhurst...

How much i wish we had Polak at center half back or full back...

Now you've really lost me.

Chops, do your own dirty work :)

Haha, same could be said for you Lach! Look familiar? This paragraph also got snaked by dockerland word for word. Waiting to see it in the West tomorrow.

Note: These are from the AFL website and are based on the top 25 players for hitouts as a proxy for sorting by ruckman. Every club has at least one representative on the list.

1. Contested Marks - Sandilands is ranked 1st with 13 (Also in the top 15 across the entire league, not bad for a bloke who cant take a mark for his life apparently).
2. Clearances - Sandilands is ranked 2nd with 32 (Behind Cox)
3. Contested Possessions - Sandilands is ranked 2nd with 75 (Behind Cox)
4. Hitouts - Sandilands is ranked 1st with 302
5. Total Disposals - Sandilands is ranked 5th (behind Cox, White, Simmonds and Hille).

But seriously, get a clue people. Sandilands is playing well but doesnt have the cattle to compliment him.

*cough*

Oh that is it.

Next time I will be including a couple of mistakes....then I will patiently wait for you to post them. Next I will point them out and mock you. Just after correcting my own original post of course. Or will I?

Always mess with their minds.

If we traded Sandilands at the end of this season he would only be 1 year older than when we traded Medders.

So what was that you were saying about why do we get rid o a young guy.

Big men mature late ...Sandilands solves our ruck issue for another 5 seasons. Build a fleet footed, ball winning team around him and look out.

If his major problem is he is hard to dislodge - then those below need to work harder rather than get a free ride.
