Again, are you sure about that?

You'd want to be careful in appealing a decision like this. Most punters were saying 7-8 (and at least 6) when it happened.
I'm not sure about that but I thought that was a rule. I stand to be corrected if that's incorrect

And dislodging 4 teeth which will require years of treatment.
Yep 8 weeks seems fair o_Oo_O:thumbsdown:
I would argue that jezza Cameron’s hit would have far longer lasting conseqeunces that lost teeth. I’ve had teeth knocked out playing hockey and it certainly wasnt ‘years’ of treatment. The hit was bad and he got one of the biggest suspensions of the century after well over 100 games without a single fine. I just don’t think he is a malicious beast that preys on childeren that the media and the lynch mob are making him out to be

Very stiff to get 8 weeks for an accidental jaw punch. Given he got up and said he didn’t mean to punch Brayshaw in the mouth I was sure Gaff would get a three game reduction.
You may think it irrelevant, but if the Tribunal found that Gaff intended to cause less damage (strike to chest) than he ended up causing (strike to jaw), they take that into account. How much that is worth, who knows.

Now sees Gaff as a coward who king hit a teenager and a germ who tried to bullshit his way out of it.

Derp.

Literally the first thing Gaff did was admit it, and then express remorse for it.

Always found it funny how people can see what they want to see, despite clear and unequivocal evidence to the contrary.

It's obvious that:

1. Gaff was frustrated due to the tactics employed by Fremantle
2. He lashed out and tried to smack Brayshaw in the chest
3. He messed up his punch and smacked him in the face
4. The hit must have ended up in the worst possible place to end up in that much damage - unlucky for Brayshaw in that he will have to live with the injuries and Gaff that he will cop a much larger penalty due to the injury

Except in his testimony he says he was not frustrated ;)

In his account he said he was trying to push him out the way...... push.... with a closed fisted haymaker. Sounds like a lie to me. The vision clearly shows that was no push.

What are your thoughts on him saying he tried to push him out the way?

if that happened in anyone elses workplace they'd be banned for life

But this isn't anyone else's workplace.

Otherwise you'd have players like Reece Conca, Barry Hall, Leigh Matthews, Jeremy Cameron etc etc banned for life.

I do like the hysteria in this thread though that eight weeks wasn't enough and trying to slam the club's culture and Simmo's response.

Pretty much this.

I thought as 8 was in the range they wanted they can't get more

And like most of the things you've thought over the last 48 hours (at least) you are wrong. 8 makes it effective impossible for the AFL to appeal since it's within what they asked for. However, if WC appeal, the body who hears that appeal would be free to hand out whatever punishment they felt appropriate. No reason that couldn't be 12 weeks.

Nesbitts come out of the whole saga well

Nisbett should have been gone long ago and you would be hard to find an Eagles supporter that doesn't agree with you. He is the last connection to the drug era. In spite of him we've worked really hard to improve our culture and so having this happen is incredibly disappointing.

Well fair enough. Still if Gaff is leaving WC literally have nothing to lose. Gaff may think differently though

He swung a punch to his chest, with the intent of pushing him out of the way, because Brayshaw had just run up to him to block his run.

That was my take on his evidence.

As Brayshaw was moving past him, to his left and crouched forward, the fist landed flush with Brayshaws jaw, cleaning him up.

He admits the strike, that it got him high, and that it caused severe impact. First thing he did at the tribunal was plead guilty to all three of those elements.

He has the right to explain what he was trying to do.

Come on people; it's not like Gaff walked over to the kid and lined up his face and went whack.
