Play Nice Was that Gaffs last game for WC?

I would argue that jezza Cameron’s hit would have far longer lasting conseqeunces that lost teeth. I’ve had teeth knocked out playing hockey and it certainly wasnt ‘years’ of treatment. The hit was bad and he got one of the biggest suspensions of the century after well over 100 games without a single fine. I just don’t think he is a malicious beast that preys on childeren that the media and the lynch mob are making him out to be
Terry Wallace stated on radio today that he’s still having dental work today.....20 odd years after being hit by Grinter. Either he’s full of shit or you are....l’ll pick you

On topic, assuming we finish top four and take the long way to the Grand Final, it means he will still miss Round 1 next year, at the very least. A week 2 exit would see him miss 3 games next year.

Combined with the obvious, anyone prepared to call whether Gaff is staying or going back to Victoria?

West coast are their biggest threat
Yeah I reckon they’re probably pretty keen not to have their players copping punches to the face Preliminary Final week.

Again, I dont have a horse in this race, but I take Gaff at his word.

I genuinely dont think he was lining up the kids jaw.
He looked at him the entire time, lined him up, wound up a haymaker and clocked him on the jaw.

If it was an accident, why would you run off, he saw Brayshaw drop to the floor and legged it. If it was an accident surely such a good bloke like Gaff would hesitate and stop to check on him. But no he ran off. Maybe he's not actually a good bloke at all.

Some people believe him based on all the evidence, some don't. You'd probably have similar mixed opinions between the tribunal members, which is why it is good to have more than 1.

It’s not that I don’t believe him I just think its irrelevant given the outcome. I was of the opinion that it wasn’t going to matter in terms of him getting something in the vicinity of an 8 week suspension.

And if you were such a good bloke, you wouldnt be using an alias, yet here we are.

He swung a punch to his chest, with the intent of pushing him out of the way, because Brayshaw had just run up to him to block his run.

That was my take on his evidence.

As Brayshaw was moving past him, to his left and crouched forward, the fist landed flush with Brayshaws jaw, cleaning him up.

He admits the strike, that it got him high, and that it caused severe impact. First thing he did at the tribunal was plead guilty to all three of those elements.

He has the right to explain what he was trying to do.

Come on people; it's not like Gaff walked over to the kid and lined up his face and went whack.
You wouldn’t be saying this if it was Cripps or Charlie on the end of that punch to the head!!!!

Sarcasm?

WC fans loathe him mostly. Fairly or unfairly. I know people who associate with both he and Cransberg and speak super highly of them.

He is more than willing to have a chat, beer and talk footy after a match with punters. But he frustrates supporters and like many a club bigwig, seems like a prick on TV.
No not at all

Given im in Vic i hadnt much exposure to him as you guys obviously. Saw his press conference and had a touch of swagger that i found interesting.

This wins the dumbest post...

How is it dumb? Steve Smith wasn't suspended for 52 games. And cricket is a complete non contact sport.

So to compare the ball tampering scandal to this incident reeks of hysteria and to satisfy the primal need to have Gaff lynched and the results broadcast on Channel 7. Were some of you seriously hoping he'd get deregistered for a year?

Please show me any past incident of a player hitting another player, that player goes down and the player checks how the player in the ground is

Well yeah. That happens literally all the time in games of footy. Niggling little jumper punches, body punches, elbows and so forth.

I dont have a horse in this race, but I reckon that's what Gaff was honestly trying to do, and (unfortunately for both players) clocked the kid flush on the point of the chin as he ducked down and ran past (doubling the impact).

If I had have seen it as Gaff singling him out and intentionally smashing him in the face, I'd say as much.

Agreed. Exactly how I saw it from the start.

Unfortunately for Brayshaw, and for Gaff, the end result was worse than incidents where the player clearly single the player out and line them up, i.e bugg, hall, Solomon. And when you throw a punch that's your responsibility. So he got 8 weeks, equal biggest ban in modern AFL. Seems fair to me.

I think if the decision wasn't made he's more likely to stay. Being publicly villified is tough, and the club will support him.
