Watts names St. Kilda

Are you guys for real???

Sit back and honestly have a think about some of the sh*t some of you are saying?

Pick 17 + S Fisher (saints favourite will not be traded for watts, will hold our backline down for 10 years, many would be upset with this trade)
Pick 17 + Milne (60+ goals for milne this year)
A top 6 Pick
KOSI?? (*#&%Q *&%$#@)
X Clarke + R Clarke
Goddard
Pick 17 + 33

FOR WATTS???

Cmon ... get real
Watts said he wants to play for st.kilda, just as he did before the draft when he was drafted. We overlooked him! Sure he may become a good footy player but he has done nothing. What you are asking is totally un-realistic!

Those of you honestly mentioning Kosi in a swap for fergus watts need to really have a good look at themselves. We all rate our own team members more than what they are really worth but cmon, a few of these are just laughable.

We have a couple of handy forwards in our team in Riewoldt and Kosi.
Watts would not even get a game in our side. As far as im concerned rubbish st.kilda all you like, be realistic or send him to carlton because....
Bottom line..... We simply dont need him, much more focused on getting a ruckman.

If I part of the leader ship group at the AFC I would get Mark Ricciuto and Ben Rutten to have a friendly word to the baby when he goes to clean out his locker on Monday or this week some time. I would king hit him and tell him that every time he touches the ball or takes a mark he will get a few hard knocks to his back or head and just so he knows what is coming in the future.

Sorry but i find some of the reaction to this really over the top. The kid wants to go home, you guys were probably over the moon last year when Thompson wanted to go back to adelaide and i'm sure the melbourne supporters were pretty angry. It happens to every single club, and most of the time you get duely compensated for it. I was dirty when Barry Hall nominated Sydney, but now when I look back on it I'm pretty bloody happy with nick dal santo as compensation.

Looks like he gets to go to either Carlton, Collingwood or Hawthorn. Either way each party has the opertunity to either work with each other, or screw each other.

Apparently his father would think differently, or he obviously would not want to go there knowing he would just be playing second grade year after year.

^^^^ What he said ^^^^
Come on!! What has Watts proven?? Ok he has potential, big boy and all that but seriously how many games has he played?? You guys didn't have a marking target in your forward line (Mcgregor aside), Welsh is injury prone yet Fergus coudn't get a game. He is just not worth what any of you are suggesting.

PS. Has anybody actually seen anything from St.Kilda saying that we are even looking at Ferg?? If he can't get a game in your forward line how will he get a game in ours?? Much more pressing issues for us than a POTENTIAL key forward.

To offset that we lost steinglein, Thompson was not a gift.

Can you guys seriously can't see the difference between a 20 year old KPP player leaving after 2 years at the club without establishing himself at the AFL level and between the 21 year old midfielder who played some 40 odd games in 4 years at his club and in the process establishing himself as one of Melbourne's best midfielders?

No one had huge beef with Stenglein or Kane Johnson when they left us but the way Fergus has handled all this and the timing of his departure deserves teh ridicule. If he was an established player and you knew you would get what he is truly worth the the backlash from the supporters wouldn't be anywhere near what it is now.

StKilda will struggle to give the Crows anything near a decent offer. Goddard in a straight swap would be closest, however the Saints have too many talls and not enough midfielders, and giving away a quality (albeit underperformed) player like Goddard for yet another key position player seems ludicrous.

I cant see how StKilda will come up with a decent offer.

One thing's for certain. If StKilda get Watts, Gehrig will "retire".
If I remember correctly, Goddard is a fan of Carlton, so maybe trade him for an early pick then on trade that pick to the AFC for Watts?!

We didn't have a target in the forward line apart from McGregor??????

Welsh missed only one game and kicked 58 goals this year. Ian Perrie finished 7th in the league in contested marks and kicked 40 odd goals for us and taken close to 150 marks. Trent Hentschel (our Mr Fix it) has played the role of a 3rd tall forward and ened up with 28 goals after spending some time in defence. How the hell didn't we have a target in our forward line??????

Now how the hell do you expect a 20 year old KF who came to club as a stick figure to play more than 5 AFL games in his first 2 years unless his name is Reiwoldt, Brown, Pavlich or Tredrea. He was selected @ pick 14 in a resonably strong draft. His development in the 2 years has been ahead of his time. There is nothing, absolutely nothing to suggest he has gone backwards in his development. Is it so unreasonable to ask for a top 6 pick in a ******** weak draft? A draft that he considered weaker than the 2002 draft.

I mean c'mon, be realistic here. If Fergus nominated for the National Draft he would without a doubt go in the top 6 and thats actually coming from people who are paid to watch the junior footy and report to footy clubs in each player. But hey what the hell would they know when we have all these gurus at BF who know everything there is to know about the player?

it takes less balls when you THINK that there is only direction traffic can move in. your hand gets less steady when your assumptions don't prove to be correct. I bet he's thought about this for months and assumes he's already there.

I agree with this. An earlier post mentions little Fergie " Daddy, I want a pony" Watts get's whatever he wants, especially becuase his old mans a CEO. I bet he thinks he has the AFC by the balls and it is practically a done deal.

Send him to Carlton in the PS draft.

 get a grip it's just an opinion. Out of interest did anyone actually see the report first hand? Did he actually say any of this on camera or did an official say it or was it just being 'reported'?. most of the trade stuff thrown around is total crap and the journos probably just saw the connection and thought it sounded like a scoop.

There is a difference between the two - Thompson had been at Melbourne for 4 years, and I agree that Melbourne people did not want to lose him but he had been injured which restricted his output for the club.

Fergus has stated that he wants to be a one club player but is running away after only 2 years. He is a key position player and normally they take around or longer in some cases the 2 years to develop physically before getting significant game time at afl level. His stance as well to show his preference of st kilda or nothing means that he has the bargaining power to say no to any deal Adelaide can get by way of compensation for his services. Thompson agreed to come to Adelaide where he has previously said that he hates the crows and would never play for them.

It wouldnt be unheard of for the Adelaide Advertiser to "invent" stories based on absolutely no fact, actually it seems more par for the course now.

I dont think anybody would be stupid enough to give away their first pick for Brendan Goddard. Especially not Carlton as their picks (1 and 4) are far too valuable.

Its a start. Now all they have to do is attach something of value to it, like their first pick or a player of some note and it a done deal.

If a second round pick is their final offer, watch young Fergus stride out in the navy blue next season.

I have a feeling the offer will increase significantly by next Friday.

I think the offer will improve from a second round pick but only upgrading to their first round pick. And that will probly only happen on Thursday night next week.

My worry is that Freg hasn't finished screwing us over yet.
Hows this for a scenario:
1. Twatts nominates the ONLY club he will accept a trade to.
2. St Kilda make a ******** poor offer (2nd round pick)
3. Adelaide tell them to shove it
4. Last quarter of GF. Eagles down by 5 goals and no chance of winning (although I don't think Twatts would even consider this). Watts goes for a mark and throws himself onto the ground. He writhes in pain and has to be stretchered from the field as his back is hurting and he can't feel his legs.
5. Claims/rumours of serious back injury surface as Twatts immediately heads to Melbourne for 'treatment'.
6. Believing the rumours, other clubs lose interested in an unproven player with possible long term back problems.
7. St. Kilda make a slightly improved offer (pick 17)
8. Crows left with no other options, pick 17 or PSD draft for Twatts

Anybody think this is not possible? My advice to the Crows.......DO NOT LET TWATTS PLAY THIS WEEKEND!

Yes Eagles will be ********ed, but honesty do they think Mr Ego really cares if they win?

The adelaide Advertiser!! Case closed, don't panic yet.

I really can't see him going anywhere else but Carlton in the PS draft too be honest. Considering the Saints have pretty good stocks of kpp's, I can't see them selling the house for Watts. And to think they will part with Fisher & pick 17 or Kosi or one or both of the Clarke brothers is ridiculous. Even if it was a 3 way deal, I can't see Carlton giving up a top 10 pick for a player like Godden, they would be mad if they did. On the other hand, I would rather see him play for Carlton than for us to accept Pick 17 in an ordinary draft.

My monies on him going to Carlton and us getting sweet FA.

It would be interesting to know what direction his old mans advice to him has been. Has it been "leave the club and make sure the club will be compensated adequately" or "leave the club and be as apathetic as you possibly can as to whether the AFC receives adequate compensation".

EDIT:

One other possible result, which doesn't excite that much could be:

Watts to Saints,
Godden or Fisher or pick 17 to Kangas,
Motlop to AFC.

There's been numerous other posts about this, but I can understand you not being willing to read through all 2 million of them.

Fergus is leaving after his rookie contract. This is not very common. Thommo spent double the amount of time at Melbourne that Fergus spent at Adelaide, and had at least established some trade value with his on field performances. The only comparison between the two situations is that both kids wanted to go back home. It's not apples with apples.

ta ;) actually i can't think of any other cases where a player has wanted to leave after only their first contract! Adelaide can't be that bad of a town surely :p
