For the first time in my memory, we are playing good, competitive, tough, smart football. We are competing with all comers. We are beating teams who would've annihilated us in the past. Since round 7 we haven't really played a poor game. We aren't dropping games against middle of the road sides (Carlton, StK, GWS, Ess). We have beaten Freo, Collingwood and Sydney. We should've beaten Freo on the weekend, but that could've gone either way, and the result's not worth dwelling on.

This Friday night seems like a huge deal. Hawthorn are the yardstick as far as I'm concerned, and they have been for a few years. If we can open them up with fast ball movement, and rattle them early, I've no doubt we can beat them. This is the game. This is the one that our leaders have to stand up in and be counted: Deledio, Cotchin, Martin, Rance, Ivan & Jack. Massive games from all of them. Lids and Martin have to gut run and have to bust Hawthorn's zone.

Come on Tiges. Make this massive.

I agree with this, I've been the crazy Tiger supporter in my extended family the last couple of weeks saying that we are 2nd or 3rd best in the league behind hawks and level with WCE (still think we are better than them). People are coming around, moreso because Freo and Sydney are convincing no one and we are beating them, even yesterday only the most ardent hater of tigers would be saying Freo were better than us.

So sure, win 4 in a row is hard, but assuming we don't run into hawks in a prelim we should expect to beat the other 3 on whatever deck we play them. My only fear is if we get shafted and get north in our first final or something stupid.

Just did the predictor which is always fraught with danger but if we lose this week and win our remaining matches and other games favs get up we finish 5th and play north... if we lose to hawks, crows and say north in the run home we finish 8th and play the dogs...

If we beat the hawks this week we could and should finish 4th...

if we finish 5th and they finish 8th we most likely would be beating them in the last game of the season and then play them the week after. What are the chances we beat a side we haven't beaten for years twice in a row? Maybe i'm just a pessimist however north is a team I would like to avoid.

Want to make the finals first. Lose to hawthorn then we most likely be 7th-8th. Have to win 3 most likely suns and two others. Adelaide will be important then guess all games are.
if we we lose this week we'd need 3 wins from crows, pies, suns, bombers and kangas. If we can't find 3 wins from those we really shouldn't bother.

Call me pessimistic, but I still think we are a chance to miss the eight.
Agree we will have to play well to make finals , if we do and make them anything is possible as we have somewhat of a disrupted season with injuries and hopefully all will be ready come finals .

We gotta fix that forward line atm and get the goal kicking right.

Right now, it is as reliable as the australian dollar.

Basically our games are decided by whether our goal kicking is gonna turn up or not.

I liked comments from all sides in this thread: we're great, like; we're a chance to miss the eight, like; we're coming next year, like; we need lots of luck, like...

I think Saturday's game ****ed me silly and I can't think straight.

We can, but a few things would have to go very right for us to pinch one:
1. A full complement of fit players to choose from, this includes Hampson, Conca, Edwards, Knights, C Ellis.
2. Top four is a must, could make a prelim from 5th etc but would be a miracle to go further.
3. Avoid WC/Haw until GF day, will beat Sydney/Freo anywhere.
4. Umpires with us not against us!!!!! :D
5. Hodge/Roughead/Lake, Fyfe/Mundy/Sandilands, Kennedy/Gaff/McGovern all to go down before September.
6. Luck.

I like your optimism but I dont know how you can talk flags when we havent won a final yet... Flags arent just won because of some good home and away performances.

Can we win a final and go deep? That, is something we can do...

Love the optimism on here but realistically no we cant, we can trouble teams in September but we won't go all the way, ill be happy to win a final first, next year for mine
