I don't think this was a huge surprise IMHO but I was hoping we would be picking up kids rather than mature recruits.

Bryce Campbell is a pretty good pick up @ 78 IMHO. He is an inside midfielder who will add some grunt to the engine room.

Not even close. Gill is a far better player. And has also done pre-seasons with other AFL clubs. He knows what's required.

Nick Gill is a superstar. One of the best and most exciting players in the SANFL.

I admit I overreacted when I first heard we took Gill. Although I would have preferred Westhoff, Gill is a ready made player who should be able to contribute next year. Did very well during the state screening and obviously showed his potential in the SANFL.

I agree. Can sometimes can be hot, sometimes really off. Westhoff would have been better for us.

Gill could be valuable while Hentschel and Biglands are unavailable.

Westhoff is a couple of years away IMO. Talented but built like a stick figure.

I think people need to add a bit of perspective on what pick we took him at

if you get a young guy that late in the draft chances are he ain't going to make it anyhow

you do not get 100% strike rate at drafts so if you already know what to expect - which is what you get with Gill and to a lesser point Bryce you improve you chances of a "successful" draft
