Being a very ****ed off Hawthorn supporter it has only occured to me about 3 years ago that our Recruiting staff and Schwab where far better off shot than working for the Hawthonr football club.

Anyway it is blantley obvious we need another big man and i think your big fella Hille is almost ideal for us, what would you blokes honetsly be asking for in exchange for him.

I would be happy to give you Cambell Brown and Robbie Campbell for David Hille and maybe your 3r rounder.
Whats your idea of a fair trade with us for David, remember this is just a hypothetical and my wishings :D .

cheers boys

The rumour was Sheedy offered Blumfield and Heffernan a few years back for Campbell Brown (after his first season?)... And the Hawks said no! Such a pity!!! :D

We'll take Crawford for Hille:)

What would Crawford give us next season that potentially Stanton, Dyson, Winderlich, Alvey etc couldn't.

Not suggesting that these boys will be as good as Crawford, but I doubt Crawford is the answer to our midfield woes, but these young guys could be.

I don't know if there is a player at Hawthorn that would interest us too much.

You are kidding arnt you? A crawford type of player is exactly what we need. He runs about 5 kms more in a game than any of our guys are able to. Everyone keeps saying it is our lack of spped but more than speed it is our lack of genuine mid field runners that kills us. Why do you think we can stick with sides for 2 and a half quaters before fading away?

How far has Crawford ran this year?

Far be it from me to abuse one of our own, but Hille is the last thing the Hawks need.
Another heartless pretty-boy?

Christ, why don't you go recruit Shane Harvey as well?

And for the record, I'd take that trade like a shot.
We could do with a big bloke who's not afraid to put the body in.

Are those kind of ruckman effective anymore?
Primus (i know he has been injured), has made comment on how the rule change has impacted on his game.

I don't see too many other weapons in Campbell's game, however we all know Hille can run and kick goals.

They seem reasonably effective for Brisbane...

and being able to run and kick goals is only valuable if you actually do it. Hille has no heart, and he is an athlete, not a footballer.
I'll trade him for any good young ruckman who's got some guts, strength and the willingness to use it.

But he's got guts, strength and he uses his size - Madden and Allan can teach him the rest. He's also a footballer and not an athlete.
On raw talent, Hille wins, yeah - but I'd rather have a less talented bloke who tries his guts out than a great talent who stands and watches his opponent run away, as I've seen Hille do on several occasions.

I see no pride in the jumper, no real effort, and frankly he can go **** himself if he doesn't want to put the effort in.

Incidentally, I'd definitely take Thompson over Brown, and Hodge over either, but Hodge for Hille would kill that club. The fans would burn the place to the ground.

Hodge is unattainable, so forget about that one. He is their next franchise player, we would have to give a lot for him and at the end of the day as great a talent he is, he has proven very little as a midfielder.

I'd take the 22 year old talented, goal kicking ruckman over an ordinary bash and crash type who struggled to string together games in the worst side this competition has seen in quite some time.
I don't know of too many young ruckman who have taken the competition by storm of late or of any who have had the same sort of pressure as Hille.

What I'm trying to say is this:
Hille is a gutless coward who does not use his body, who does not put in a full effort, who does not have pride in the guernsey, who does not chase opponents down or put pressure on them, and who is mentally weak.

If he can get over those issues, he will be a champion, and I will recant everything I've said, and serve myself a great big slice of humble pie, and be ****ing happy about it.

But I'd rather see a hack trying his guts out for our club than watch that super-talented boy put in half-efforts.

Ok then lets trade!!!

I am very hesitant in trading Robbie Campbell because i think he is a better ruckman that David Hille but the thing with Hille is that he can run and kick goals and i think at Hawthorn he would play KP as the Ruck is no problem for us at present.

Id be willing to give you blokes Campbell as a last resort but how about Campbell brown and our 2nd rounder which would be about pick 18??? if not throw up some suggestions im open to anything at this stage hehe.

Nathan Lonie???

cheers

I would have thought everyone at Hawthorn would be hesitant in trading after last years effort.

Campbell Brown wouldnt improve our list, and I struggle to find a spot for him in our top 22.

Jon Hay or Danny Jacobs might spark some interest.

What a stupid comment, about as stupid as those who question Hirds value! He carried Hawthorn in both of their wins and a couple of other games as well and then broke his arm in fact he has been the only decent player the Hawks have had. Funny how if he isnt in the best three on the ground every week people want to give him ****.
He is one of the best mid fielders going around if if you cant see it then you know **** all about football!

I wasn't giving him ****. Just questioning his value to Essendon.
You're the one who said he can run all day and is the midfielder we need.

The fact is he can't run all day, and the injury he has as a 31 year old is isn't likely to see him back to his peak. And it isn't his arm injury i was talking about, it was his back injury.

Do you remember seeing Crawf spend a whole game in a back pocket?

Wayne Carey carried the Kangaroos as well but it didn't work for Adelaide.

Crawford would cost us someone like McPhee and more, perhaps a first round draft pick, and lets not forget the impact he would have on our cap.

Id rather us go after a Brett Reilly, James Bartell, Chad Fletcher than a player that is going to cost us 400+ and give us two years of footy.

Don't question my football knowledge, just trying to be realistic.

We would never get him anyway but your original comments seemed to suggest he wouldnt be any value for us. I think you will find his back injury will be ok now he has had some time off from playing. And haven seen him play a number of games live (my brother in law is a Hawthorn member so i have been to a few Hawks games)he can still run all day when is back is 70%.
I wouldnt trade any of our better players for him but my point is that if he was to play for us he WOULD be value. He plays the style of footy that we are missing and that is a 15km plus runner.
