Shove it Captain!

My decision to leave was not taken lightly. As I said earlier, this was the first time that I have ever left a game early. I usually stay until the bitter end (at times, to the point that I sit through the oppositions song). Yesterday I felt myself getting too angry for my own good, so I left.

Again Captain, SHOVE IT! You won't win a p***ing contest with me.

im sorry you left.

the north supporters would have taken great delight in seeing you exit the arena, tail between legs.

so much for supporting the team through thick & thin.

& dont get nasty with me just because you did the wrong thing.

if you felt "shame" (your words) for barracking for the PAFC, then we dont need you. dont bother even turning up next time.

You are a santimonious git, aren't you.

I have supported the club through thick and thin for as long as I can remember (literally). Like most Port supporters, my passion for the club flows down through the family tree.

I have spruiked the club's proud history to all that will listen (and some who won't). I am the sole Port supporter at my place of business (BTW not a small business, we have about 800 staff in Melbourne alone).

Yesterday, I exercised my right to walk out of a completely inept and passionless display by our boys (notice that I still refer to them as such not the dissociative 'them' that others may employ in similar circumstances). As I said earlier, the decision (made, as it was with heavy heart) was made because I could not take it any more. I know what effect that witnessing the farce was having on me. It would not have done me or those arround me any good to stay.

The other reason for me leaving is that it is the only way that we lowly supporters (yes, even we members) can voice our disgust at our boys game. Sure, it would not have been noticed but the act (like posting on a site like this) went some of the way to making me feel less powerless in that situation.

In relation to my shame at supporting the PAFC, it is fleeting. It disappeared over night. However, in some justification of it, if our boys do not have pride in the club, then how can we?

Last point: I doubt that the Noth supporters really cared about one of us leaving. I think that, for other reasons, they were having too good a time anyway.

same here mate - i agree with a lot of what you have said.

youre entitled to feel the way you do.

just speaking for myself, no matter how bad it gets, i wouldnt leave - look, thats just me i suppose.

lets leave it at that & hope that we get back on track quick smart & then we'll have no further need to discuss departure times.

oh, so are you endorsing leaving games early when the chips are down & posting threads like "we suck"?

& i'm the idiot?

can the vendettas santos.

1. I endorse the sacking of Choco.
2. Those threads are corrct. We do 'suck' right now.
3. Vendetta? I am not scared to air my true feelings. What's the point of masquerading? I think you need to read what you post and then tell me truthfully that you don't ask for these responses.

I don't think that you made it down this far in the thread:

Before I go, I want to apologise for posting such a negative thread. I needed to vent.

I still am seething at the perfornance of our boys but we should be looking at reasons and constructive solutions.

Hopefully by tomorrow I will be able to look forward to the next game with expectation not look back on that game with loathing.

I posted this about an hour after my first post. Dunno, if it cahnges anything, but it might give a little perspective.

just keep the faith!

There's never been any doubt that I will do so.

BTW I can't believe the amount of typos I'm making today. Maybe I should stop bashing the keyboard too hard.

Ok, vendetta re-started smart guy.

1. Yes, sack the useless bastard (at the end of the year...I guess)
2. I'd take O'donnell or Harvey. I've changed my opinion on who's available and I like what I hear from these guys. Definitely keep Clarkson around, but Choco and Walsh must go.
3. I can only hope to reach the high quality of you 'head in the sand' type posting.

Harvey, no. Too much time at one club. O'Donnell definately.

Rehn is the chosen one.

Throw seven digits at Gary Lyon.

Do it.

I would like to veto Gary Lyon. To me, he's another Peter Schwab/Danny Frawley/Tim Watson in the making.

"Good bloke, but..."

I still like Longmire or O'Donnell, but with the list in the disrepair its currently in (and with the number of senior players) I can't help but think that the club would only go for an experienced coach - most probably Eade.

Gary Lyon apparently was a sensational motivator for the Australian/Irish series. Coupled with a pretty good understanding of the modern game and mates in the media he would be a good pick up. However he won't leave the media game.

Shaun Rehn took a team at West Adelaide that was dysfunctional with a leadership group in tatters and brought the club back together.

Shaun Rehn - Do it now.

An experienced coach is not a necessity. Someone with the respect of the playing group is and also someone with the tactical nous to get the players in the positions and playing the way which best suit their abilites. Something that it almost now confirmed that Williams does not.

You're a truer supporter, hold the club closer to your heart and are witty too. You are the complete package.

Rehn is the chosen one.

This will guarantee a panic in the adelaide crows boardroom to ditch Ayres and appoint Rehn before Port grab him. Which they won't.

"I need new challenges" - Bucky.

How about finding a new coach after Choco does the right thing?

I very much doubt Rehn will go back to the Crows. A very reasonable amount of bad blood is building up between Rehn and the powers that be.

Rehn for the Power - it is only a matter of time.
