nobody who cant kick straight and who isnt a half decent contested mark!!!

In another thread, I floated the idea that Ray mightnt be that unhappy with going back to WA. Im not saying he is unhappy or anything like that, just that going through a list of quality players of a type that we have plenty of, his name would come into it, wouldnt it?

Polak - Ray?

I'd rather not trade a midfield gun for a tall with issues. B Murphy, Birss, Power, Boyd I'd put on the table and see what I can get for them. Also, given the strength of this years draft, I'd be prepared to give up draft picks and see whats available.

I certainly will not pay over the odds. Some of the Whitnall trades proposed are ridiculous. Have you guys seen him play lately? There's a reason why Carlton wants to get rid of him.

If our first two picks, Murphy, Birss, Power or Boyd aren't enough for someone Eade wants, then I'd be happy to keep what we have.
Darcy in the square, Walsh leading out, Grant in a pocket, Williams / Wells in and out of the team, Minson learning to rest up forward. I don't think we need to be desperate. Add a developing Cleve Hughes :) to the mix and the picture is far from grim.

Hey guys, not trolling, its just as a Collingwood supporter, i see us having what you need in abundance, and what u have is what we need.

Now as a trade hyperthetical, if it was up to me, id put Tony Rocca up there for the doggies. But i dont think the brainstrust will do it.

Failing that we have the up and coming Tom Davidson, who has been playing some good footy in the vfl. Billy Morrison who hasnt been getting the chance at the pies, but kicked 16 goals in 3 games for willy 2s.

Would you as supporters look at taking Billy Morrison and a 2nd round pick for Gianciracusa?

Giansiracusa was winning our best and fairest when he got injured according to Eade so you would have to part with a fair bit more than that to get him.

Tom Davidson is a reasonable prospect but given the shape of his knees there are not many clubs that would give up anything decent for him.

Rocca would be good for us but he is a big risk because of age and injury so I couldn't see us parting with the sort of player that Collingwood would want for him.

Guido is part of the leadership group and a very good player. He won't be traded.

The only players I reckon that will be considered for trade are:
Sam Power
Nathan Eagleton
Shane Birss
Brad Murphy
Pat Bowden
Wayde Skipper

There is no way any club would trade for Keiron McGuiness, Daniel Bandy or Ben Harrison.

Jordan McMahon and Cameron Faulkner may possibly be up for trade but I highly doubt it and I personnally would be against it.

No thanks. We might rookie list him after he is delisted by Collingwood at the end of this season though.

Guido is one of our most versatile midfielders, Eade isnt crazy.

Eagleton has leg speed and fair delivery. With your lot shovelling it out to him, hed give you something you lack.

I could see Eagleton getting traded to either the Pies or the Dons, but what would be a reasonable trade and would want that player?

Provided he passes a physical examination with flying colours, I'd entertain a straight swap for Tom Davidson. If he did the same knee twice, I'd say no way, but it's been one reco in each knee.

There is not much on offer at Essendon in the tall dept that would be worth pursuing at Eagle's price. Lucas, Lloyd and Bradley off limits of course.

Ok, so that previous trade hyperthetical was quite crap. If it was up to me, id offer you Rocca, what would you be willing to give up for him?

I would say that the Dogs will not trade anybody that they have recently signed up. I think the players that have been signed up in the last 6 months the club has made it clear that they are wanted at the club.

In terms of what we are willing to give up I would say its the players out of contract and the dogs are taking a passive approach to contract negotiations.
I am not sure who is out of contract but I would like to hear that the Dogs are keen to sign Cam, McMahon and Birss.

I'd take Rocca even if he is 29. Rooca + Whitnell + the return of Darcy and Grant gives us depth and experience of talls for the forward line. With some developing talls eg Wells, Williams, Minson and Walsh our list looks a lot more balanced Re experience V youth

For a trade (as listed by Dry Rot) I would offer any two of these and maybe even a 2nd or 3rd round draft pick for Rocca:

Sam Power
Nathan Eagleton
Shane Birss
Brad Murphy
Pat Bowden
Wayde Skipper
Keiren Mcguinness
I'd also add Brad Boyd to the list

I would offer something similiar for Whitnell to get him as well.

The question is, can our salary cap afford two of these types?

Rocca has already had a dose of Eade.

Would he come back for seconds, or was it a Sydney thing?

It was a mummy thing.

Saying that perhaps I should reconsider the merits of chasing Rocca.

Thats what I was thinking. I'm really torn here too, because they're two players whom I am hoping will wear the Dogs colours for year to come.

As you imply Dog 36, it would be hard for the Dogs to justify re-signing someone, especially within Eade's tenure and then trading them come season end.
Given Eade has now publicly stated an intention to consider finding a readymade forward through trading to bring immediate impact to the team, it does mean that some tought decisions are ahead.
I do not envy the task, as it's not like we have an abundance of players we'd be immediately willing to give up , who in turn would be considered fair trade by another club for a high calibre forward recruit like a Tredread, Whitnall etc.

We have a few players who may be considered trade-worthy along with another player or draft pick for another club's developing player and/or future picks. And we also have a few guys who would probably not be considered by other clubs in a trade situation, and would probably end up being delisted by the Dogs, and maybe redrafted by another club.

As much as I want McMahon and Faulkner to stay with the Dogs, unless they re-sign soon, it may be an indicator that they may be players whom Eade believes will provide the interest from other clubs to enable him to secure the type of player he is after.
One of those players plus a high draft pick, may raise the eyebrows of other clubs with something to offer.

Hope it doesn't happen though.

I think much of the trading period will be determined by what happens to Luke Power in the coming weeks. If he signals an intention to stay up here in Bris-Vegas alot of interesting variables involving his brother Sam as a trade enhancer will cease. Unless Brisbane decide buy into the debate and offer the Bulldogs a deal for Sam plus one of (Faulkner/McMahon/draft pick to head up North to induce Luke to stay in return for Bradshaw??

Bradshaw kicked 9 on the weekend... I'd say the Lions might want to hold onto him
