The fixture would have been better with the Saturday games in reverse time slots. Otherwise, pretty good.

Carlton and Essendon drew 90k on the Sunday in 2011, Richmond and Carlton 94k in 2013, and Richmond and North 90k in 2015. Then there was Port and Richmond in 2014 that packed out AO with 50k.

I'm aware the Sunday game was already confirmed gone before tonight, but really it's been huge in recent years. Then couple that with playing the Saturday game at 4:20 and it means we have no day finals at all until the GF. Just seems a bit odd.

Its about tv ratings and advertising revenues

C7 earn much more at prime time, which aint sat arvo

It would have been great. There is always a real buzz about Melbourne on that Saturday. It's a shame they take it away so that we can spend more time listening to BT and Richo.

No way are they going to put two interstate teams on a Friday night. Won't be good for Channel 7 Melbourne. I think you are right with this prediction.

Is there going to be NRL finals in Sydney that night? Would probably explain why Sydney didn't get the night slot.

Ratings? The Dogs-GWS twilight Saturday Night final last year did very well. AFL keen for more of it?
