I got score by score updates when we beat Freo by 2 points a few years back in an Internet cafe in Dubrovnik. When we won I let out an involuntary yeah!' and so did a guy sitting a few computers doiwn.

I have Day off from work , and I am typing on the ipad lying in bed in my apartment in Melbourne.

But In 1986 , well before the Internet.

And not having contacted home because I was on a strict budget traveling around europe and the international phone calls were expensive then.

So I had not known any scores of the footy matches until mid May , I had to go to Australia house in London to read the back editions of the Melbourne Sun and The Melbourne Herald.

I nearly died with shock when I saw that Bob Rose had stepped aside and Leigh Matthews was now coach of Collingwood , and that Tommy Hafey had the Sydney Swans on top of the ladder.

The surrounding highlands, sea lochs et al are lovel. Toon itself is grim.
