I think he is the new Jed, and who knows what that will be like. Let's just be happy that he is a tough, smart footballer with some speed.
Great game Jedi.

nothing against Jed but my money is on hartung.... first time I saw Billy i said another Rioli
Can't recall ever seeing Cyril running around like a headless chook.

Billy has a long, long way to go. He has to realise there is a hell of a lot more to playing football than trying to outrun a freight train.

Look I may be a bit over the top with my prediction but seeing this kid haven't been that impressed with a young gun since I saw judd in his first year or 2 with West coast!

Yikes. Don't get me wrong, i'm a fan. But spend some time looking at kids like O'Meara, Crouch, Wines, etc. There are a lot of kids out there making statements as big if not bigger than Jed. I must say, I shudder to think how good Ollie Wines will be.

I haven't seen any evidence of Jed running around like a headless chook, quite the contrary in fact. He looks to me like he knows how to play footy, where to go, has great balance on the ground and in the air, great leap, great vision and knows how to kick to the free or leading man beautifully. In addition, that automatic side step he did prior to kicking his goal last week was Burgoyne-esque and simply can't be taught. He's a natural.

Agreed. I was referring to Billy.

Also there is 1 huge difference between Billy and Rioli. Agility.

Rioli has amazing agility, Billy is great at running straight lines, get him to side step or change direction quickly and it's a struggle.

I could understand if someone saw some Rioli in Jed but I can't see it in Billy.

Billy will come good though. He certainly has the drive and desire to improve and succeed.

Yeh of course I'm massively impressed with the guys you've mentioned but these are players having played full seasons and have been exposed to the high level of afl for a little while. Jed has only played a handful of games and just seems ready to explode. If only he was fully fit last year everybody would be saying the same as what you say about ollie wines. No disrespect to what you said I agree with you about all those players you mentioned.

Fair enough, wasn't having a crack.

I just think some of the other kids even in small game numbers have shown even more than Jed.

Those guys are the absolute creme de la creme when it comes to young AFL stars. They were the top rated, "can't miss" kids of their age group. You either had to be shizenhaussen, tanking, an expansion franchise or willing to sell the farm just to get a look in. (Agreed on Wines - the kid is a BEAST)

Jed Anderson has been a huge surprise packet from the Northern Territory via GWS. I doubt that anyone had even heard of him when we traded Stephen Gilham after the 2012 season. Just 6 games and a lot of bad luck with injuries since then… (Gilham managed just 15 with GWS and retired…)

I think it's okay for people to be excited about Jed. It doesn't matter if Mike Sheahan will ever rate him in his Top 10. It's more about Hawthorn finding good young players who will carry our club forwards.
