Would Graham consider A Simpson or J Longmire as GM of football for us?
One could only Prey.

But even before that consideration, I would suggest we have a few more things to fix in Footy Ops before we go after a new coach, else it'll be pointless.

I can only hope that Graham is being as proactive as Tassie are in putting together their front office team.

They've already made some significant hires and have some other big names on the way.

They're already diluting the talent pool.

(Yes, I know what I posted in the LM thread but I have no names other than the Bartel rumour from last week)

Poor bloke has the weight of expectation on his shoulders to fix all that is considered wrong with the club. He needs the buy in and backing of a lot around him. He also needs those around him to do their job, and to do it properly. He can’t make the players on the field stick tackles, kick straight, hit targets etc. So we’re gonna need a lot more than Wrighty to fix the issues.

Agree but his focus should be (and I expect it will be) to develop a good system that aligns with modern footy and is led by competent people that share the same vision.

Without knowing him too closely he does come across as someone that understand/embraces modern footy - and that in it self is a big positive moving forward.

Our club needs to be built or tweaked (whatever the case may be) to play modern footy.

Either way we are probably going to have some further pain in the short term but we should be much better for it over the long term.

First (and most important) step is to get a good Head of Footy.

Expect him to come out & say we’re still aiming for the premiership this year!

100% pressure on.

What could go wrong, Mr Wright?

Wright was responsible for pies change of direction after Buckley’s departure- and the clean up of list and salary (which Eddie flowered up).

We might have to see some departures which will hurt short term, similar to Adams, Treloar and Grundy.

We might have to swallow these bitter pills short term but what’s another couple of years - we’ve waited thirty - and do we want to keep going on in the same way we’ve been going.

I say let him clean house.

We only let him go because he was the fourth best ruckman on our list behind, Kreuzer, Warnock and Hampson.
Sauce and Kreuzer would have been an awesome team for our rucks. But we kept Warnock and Hampson. Our recruiting team at the time needed rooting or shooting... or both.

Wright is clearly gearing up to fire from the hip. I love the July start. October was far too late for the sweeping changes that are desperately needed.

The football department is about to be torched. Voss, Lloyd, Austin, the assistants, and the fitness guy from Sydney - time to start working on your CV’s

If the players now know that scorched earth is to come I doubt there’s much motivation to mount a charge in the back half of the season. This list has killed plenty of coach careers, one more won’t phase them in the slightest. Saving Voss won’t motivate them, and given he’s seemingly lost the playing group, it might even motivate them to lay down.

I doubt we’ll get any more signatures for awhile either.

Same here. We persisted with Jacobs as a rookie selection, gave him a second chance and just when he started to come good we lost him to Adelaide.

A Kreuzer - Jacobs combo would’ve been great to see.
It was great to see when they got out there.
