Agreed. He’s lauded - by the industry and by posters here - as a first rate football administrator who’s had a positive influence at two clubs. A bit Pollyannaish on my part, but just hope we let him get on with it and not think we know better.

Messiah or not what is the alternative to improving our footy department?
Lets assume no significant changes are made.
Brad Lloyd and Voss both keep their jobs.
Cook is retiring so he needs to be replaced and lets assume Wright comes in and continues just like Cook would have (ie stability).
We make some changes to the list at seasons end.
Based on how poorly we are currently going, what would next season look like?
Where are our improvements coming from?
Would we likely make top 8?

Not saying we won’t have a new coach - but that would require a process which Wright cannot cannot institute yet. Other roles don’t need the same level of process.

With a different coach I’d hope there would be a new game plan.
It’s unlikely that Voss would want to change or would be able to implement that change when it’s clear players aren’t buying in to what he’s saying.
Goodwin has changed the game plan substantially at Melbourne in season resulting in an improvement. Voss has shown no capability to do so.
If he's told we need a new game plan or a new coach he might be open to it.
The players reportedly have respect for him and what he says but clearly it's not working out this year. They might be quite open to a new approach from someone they otherwise are ok with.
Even if i did know - and i don’t - I wouldn’t be posting here at this point.
The nature or basis of my champagne to shit comment is that all appointments start off pleasing many but then some are happy with what gets done and some aren't. You cant please everyone all the time.
Example, IIRC, when Ratts was flicked, 50% of the board wanted him retained, 50% wanted him replaced with Malthouse and Sticks ended up having the casting vote. So Malthouse comes in with 50% of the board having a negative attitude towards him so it was doomed from the start.
I think the Wright appointment is a good one because of his wide ranging football management experience but there will be decisions and appointments that he makes which will please some and earn the vittriol of others. Thats football I guess.

HOF ?
I posted a week or so ago. I expect HOF and a few others to be done first and fairly quickly. A few roles my be moved or “re assigned” in some structural changes
My gut feel is this will be first and the Voss removed after final round where process will be in place to pick next coach and coaches
Wright will have a hit list in place already for coaches and I reckon a few other jobs will have already been agreed

He needs a new Head of Football in place to run the coach selection process, doesn’t he?
He would be running that you would rhink. Would want head of football in place to involve as part of the process. New coach would need have comfort with the Head of Footy they would be working with. Reckon it will be a pretty high calibre appointment.
