I know there are already a number of threads on the kid and we are yet to get the number one pick, but anyone who watched todays carnival games would agree with me that he is a certainty to be running around in the red and blue next year. He would already be the best player in our midfield. I cannot wait!

Don't put different expectations of him to other kids, still my height and would weigh as much as me. Decent speed and great agility will be the keys to him adjusting to the speed of AFL.

Welcome Pick 1 & 2 :D

Scully is the one we desperately need :thumbsu:

Yeah I'm not fussed if we get pick 2 or not. All I want is Scully. 2 would be a bonus.

What! You wanted picks 1 & 2, now I've heard everything.

KTLK of all people I never though you would have hoped we win less than 5 games to get the top two picks & go for Scully.

I got to see what the hype was about for the first time today, and it is justified. Can't wait for the kid to be in a Melbourne jumper, clearly ahead of everyone else in his draft class.

As for pick 2, Butcher didn't impress me at all today, but having said that he has apparently been carrying an injury through the championships (according to one of the commentators).

They all agreed this is a midfielders draft, and I think there's a very good chance we will take someone like Trengrove or Morabito rather than draft a KPP who isn't as good.

If you guys fully expect Watts, Jurrah, etc to reach their potential, I would grab two mids with pick #1 and #2. Definitely a midfielders draft, a lot of them are outside mids with exceptional skills. Exactly what Melbourne need. With the exception of Scully though who is inside and out. :thumbsu:

Would also leave Richmond to pickup Butcher at pick #3 or #4 so we can finally replace Richo. Win/win. :)

Just a thought. Maybe we could do some strategic trading to trade pick 2 down to pick 5 if we think we're going to draft someone that would still be there at 5. One team may be willing to part with a decent play (that suits us) if they really want say Butcher and think he wouldn't around at 5.

There's going to be a fair bit of angst when we win 5 games and finish 15th, thats all i can say... :D

Be prepared for it..

West Coast (MCG)
Fremantle (MCG)
Port Adelaide (MCG)
Richmond (MCG)

im seriously worried especially with the breaking news on jimma, we might have some reason to win and dedicate wins. its a loss loss situation loosing draft picks and a president

Not getting ahead of things but looking at the way Scully worked in traffic reminded me a lot of Gary Ablett Jnr (I think someone mentioned this a while ago). He also has a similar build to Judd when was younger. He seems to have so much tim to sum up options.

Could compare him to lesser players but why bother he will be a gun.

I will call him Cary Judlett.

Two words for pick 2....... Kane Lucas

......who was pretty good last year as well roving Naitanui's taps and around the ground. Looks a player.

Funny how it says the stand out performance was Dustin Martin with 28 possessions & a goal but Scully was quiet compared to normal with 27 & a goal.

Yeah he may of had one of those Bruce (and Gary Ablett) type games , have 30 touches and not notice him.

What I like best about Scully is in the footage of the 2008 U18 carnival - how great the combination was at various times between him, Watts, Blease & Strauss. These four already seem to have a special understanding, and it's going to be spine-tingling to see all of them in the same team again.
