"We got within a couple of points and it felt like we were slowly turning the wheel but we just never got in front," the 28-year-old said.

"They just kept coming and kicked goals at the right time when we felt we were coming."

If Carlton make finals and god forbid we meet them I'd like to see Swans reaction if we bomb out in a Semi or a Prelim, will he be saying "We'll be right, we'll just reload for next year"?

I kept telling my brother at the game, it just wasn't our night, the way the ball was bouncing into their hands, some umpiring decisions, then all of a sudden, their intent and attack on the footy compared to ours, all that put together, we never really had a chance. Theres not much else to it, and no point thinking any more of it.

Saw Swan at the Richmond Hotel in the Adelaide CBD today before lunch. Not sure what he was doing in Adelaide. Was with a few blokes who didnt play AFL. Clearly not stressing about last night and will look fwd to next game on Monday

As supporters and members we are entitled to be critical of the team when they perform at a sub standard level. I seem to recall certain players brushing aside the thrashing Geelong handed to us in round 22 last year. We all know what happened in the weeks after. When we lose badly I for one would like to hear a player reflect the pain that we feel as supporters. I don't expect to win every game but I do expect effort. It was not there on Friday night and they MUST bring it next week.
