Great year.

I urge everyone to not think of this last game as a reflection of this season, but to think of it as the end to a year that exceeded all expectations.

When you compound the injuries this team has had to face (Barlow, Tarrant etc), with the fact that around half their team has 2 years or less experience and the constant travel in and out of the east every two weeks, this team has had an awesome year.

When you look at the way this team finished last year (13th?) , surely no one would expect them, to beat the reigning premiers in a final on a ground that is a foreign country to a good portion of the players. If this team can hold onto Mundy, and leave Tarrant as the only real loss, Im sure the increase in experience to the younger players will hold them in good stead to replace the dogs in the final 4 next year.

Well done to Mark Harvey and the players, in particular the younger portion of the team for their efforts this year.

Watching tonight I have to say that Fyfe is going to be one exciting player to watch in the future, he just doesn't drop marks.

Cheers mate, bit flat atm but very happy with our year

See thats the thing, the disappointment was going to happen at some point (Flag odds were $41 IIRC), it was just a matter of when. The important thing is to see the loss as the big picture and see the development of the team as a whole from last year to this year.

Sorry, i dont agree, i barrack for the Dockers, but i am not all doe eyed about them, they need to HTFU, they really needed to throw themselves in like they had no self preservation, this was their grand final, not last week.

They did not chase and they did not tackle, i am and i would say a fair section of Perth is pretty disapointed, it was just a training run for Geelong.

To me they have improved but that game was the insipid Dockers of old.

I thought they gave it 100% tonight. Their pressure was great but their inexperience really showed.

Fyfe's gonna be a gun for you guys, what a pick-up!

Turn it up... if you had watched the saints v geelong match last week and then seen the dockers play hawks you could see the massive gulf in skill between the two matches...
Dockers were no chance tonight and to add to that geelong had played a poor half last week and had recieved a rocket from bomber...

Tonight had nothing to do with effort

Alot of negative keyboard warriors who will either derail this thread or completely ignore it because it isn't a negative thread.

Regardless, good on the Dockers for being this years bolter. Hopefully they can fulfill their potential in the years to come, there has been alot to like about them season.

that was the insipid dockers of old? the boys put in the effort, we were just outgunned by a very experienced and hungry good side in the first quarter.

Scooter, good post.
I reckon you are right, we need to keep Mundy & get Mick Barlow and Ballantyne in there, and get the Lloyd brothers to do their thing and we should be challenging for a top 4 Possy next year.
Just goes to show how hard it is to win the f'ing thing from Perf.
Well done to the Toast in '06.

Unfortunately the extent of our injuries (not just tonight, but throughout the whole season) means we couldn't give it a proper shot. If any of the top 3 sides had our injury problems, they would have close to no chance whatsoever of winning the flag.

I am looking forward to the next few years.

With Barlow, Ballantyne and Tarrant out and Sandilands on one leg it's akin to tackling Geelong without Selwood, Johnson, Taylor and Ottens. With that in mind I think Freo went okay.

Harvey was the favourite to be the first coach sacked at the start of the season and Fremantle were paying $6.50 to make the 8 at Christmas so bookies and punters certainly didn't rate us.

Geelong had one(?) player who hasn't won a premiership while Fremantle had half a dozen who had never even played at the venue.

Cant believe the amount of shit that has been flung their way tonight (especially from some Carlton supporters!). Great effort to win the final last week considering they weren't expected to be top 8, many even thought they'd be bottom 4. A lot to look forward to with this team... one more headache for my dees going forward!

I agree with all that , except where you say they went OK, they could have gone in a hell of a lot harder in both tackling and chasing, that does not require great skills.

If they ever get a coach who can string a sentence together, they might go somewhere.
Mark Harvey speaks very well to the media now, nothing wrong with him, great coach. They have been a very enjoyable team to watch this year, so in that respect, cheers.:thumbsu:
