Well done

I think in the first half the Crows definately had the better of the stoppages. THeir clearances generally led to a result up the ground. After half time Port just domianted out of the middle but our forward line was completely non existant so it didnt lead to anything.

Can E,bert and Tredrea work together Ebert has been on fire as the go to man but he becomes the second option with Tredrea there

I don't think it would have mattered if we had Ablett and Matthews in our forward line today, the crows were pushing us wide forcing us to take shots from near impossible angles.

They had very few set shots today, most were quick snaps from ruck contests or running under pressure from a fair way out. I thought it was a pretty exciting game, I guess outsiders don't appreciate the pressure that leads to it being so scrappy, great fun to watch. :thumbsu:

Thanks largely to Lade. He killed us in the 3rd quarter. The loss of Brogan is really going to hurt you guys. If he misses alot of games, it could be season defining.

The guys who disappointed me today (and these aren't one offs) were Damon White - too many times getting kicks across half back, out marked by 180cm opponents, no physical presence. He's living off a 15 minute burst against Freo at the moment. Mahoney looked all at sea with the pace of the game. Nathan Lonie ... well I never have and never will be a fan. Our key defenders were a mixed bag today. Did some good, but some bad and the bad cost goals.

Not lumping him in with the others, I think Nathan Krakouer is a huge talent, but this was probably the week to send him to the Port Magpies.

There were a couple of other guys I would've expected more from, but they were one offs, so I won't pick there.

Be careful Ford, Rucc could be reading. I wonder if there will be an article about your comments:rolleyes:

Bragging rights are well and truely yours

Adelaide today were far too slick, their defensive pressure was very very good, and their ability to convert all that into goals was impressive.
The way they clogged up our forwardline was always going to be a problem for us and Adelaide executed their game plan to perfection.

Enjoy your victory....as a Port supporter i am disappointed with the result yes but today we were beaten by the far better 22 on the park

a deserved victory

Small forwards simply can't produce every week. I didn't see Tredders make much of a nuisance of himself around brett, and Brett made a few ball-handling errors that reduced his contribution.

Felt for young Ebert today & thought he tried to hard at times.

Scrappy game overall but the crows had too much run coming out of defence for us. McLeod tore us a new a-hole and I have to say I was impressed with Perrie

Anyway congratulations, and yes me and my Port trolling buddies are gonna deserve what we will be copping for the next 15 weeks :o

You mean the next 52?;)

You know what Rory, I give you credit. You always are here win, lose or draw ready to give it or take it on the chin like a man while others (who shall remain nameless) go into hiding until Port win.

This was Port's best chance to beat us this year I believe; they had more or less a full strength side on the park, we had a ton of absences, they had the flying start to the season, we'd been slow out of the blocks. I've thought since the start of the year that we'd be well and truly up and about come the second showdown but expected a bit more of an arm wrestle today than it turned out to be. Truth be told the scoreboard could have been a lot uglier had certain things gone the way Adelaide wanted (Bock's missed goal from close-up, had he put it through, would have opened the floodgates I reckon); make no mistake, Port Adelaide got smashed today and to me that says the media have once again been too quick to declare a side as a genuine finals threat. Still way too early in the year.

I've said it before...Power lost most of its grunt players after the premiership in 2004. They have too many outside runners and not enough grunt in and under. That's where we won it. Leg speed will win games against weak and disorganised opposition. Power somewhere between 9 & 12 this year. Crows top 4.
Anyone still bagging Perrie?

We had no leg speed, not once Pearce didn't make the cut.
As I've pointed out in your thread about recruiting fast players, the difference between a fast team and not is only one or two "fast" players.

With PB, JB and Pearce, we have a fast midfield, with just PB and JB we do not. You can tag one or two players like that, but not three at the same time and sooner or later one will get you.

Also Perrie has made a habit of cutting us up. His workrate is too good for Wakelin and Thurstans. Choco may have been so tricky that he even tricked himself in this one.
Ah well, live and learn.
