I knew it was cursed when my Flyers tanked against the Sabres earlier in the day.
My $30 reserved seats turned out to be four rows from the top of the bloody stadium. What
a rip off. I paid half that for the North game and was 100 rows closer to the ground. And I still had to wait in a queue.
My boys played the worst match I've ever seen them play, against a hated rival missing half their side. Then they teased us by actually being tied or ahead at all three changes.
Of course, plenty of taunting greeted us as we left, especially while we waited an hour for an f-ing tram.
So, my first Carlton match as a spectator was pretty much an unmitigated disaster.
I suppose there are worse things in life than that. A root canal, for example. Dinner at Smorgy's. A Celine Dion concert. An episode of "Neighbours". Losing to COLLINGWOOD.
And yet, one thing came to mind as it was all happening. I could have been in South Africa instead.
