2nds West Coast Eagles WAFL Watch 2024

WAFL-listed Eagle Harley Sparks bangs one home from 45 after the siren to extend the lead to 14 at half time. WCE (6.2 (38)) lead Perth (3.6 (24)).

Feel like we’ve definitely been the better team but several skill errors and brain fades cost us a bit in that term.

Jack Williams, Lucassen and Sparks the goalscorers in the second.

Hall and Trew got busy in the 2nd, both had their moments though on managed minutes.

Barnett looking threatening in pack situations, nearly took an absolute screamer in that term - got up very high but just mistimed it a bit. Pretty competitive in the ruck too, although did squander a fairly easy scoring opportunity by playing on after taking a mark inside 50 and being tackled.

Liking Livingstone’s competitiveness so far, been playing mostly forward and rotating with Barnett in the ruck. Jack Williams with a couple of moments too including some good bodywork to take a mark inside 50 and convert the shot.

Burgiel looks classy and composed when he gets the ball.

WAFL-listed Eagle Shannon Lucassen has been very busy - kicked 2 so far and gets involved up the ground. Looks a good find

Another goal after the siren, this time Jack Williams boots his third after a contested mark 25m out. Takes the lead out to a game-high 47 points at 3QT - we lead Perth 12.5 (77) to 4.6 (30).

That was terrific football, everything just seemed to work for us and the players noticeably got around each other for every good play they made.

Goals to Jack Williams (2), Maric, Johnston, Trew and Lucassen (IIRC - EDIT: Was Luke Yeo, not Lucassen). WAFL website says Burgiel has kicked 3 but that is very much wrong. He’s been good though - very calm and composed through traffic.

Jack Williams working his way into this game and relishing having proper supply inside 50 and support around him for once.

Trew and Hall were again strong, though they (+ Rotham) have taken off their boots and look to be done for the day, clearly on managed minutes.

Hall dominate in the third

Burgiel, Johnston and Trew all busy.

Rotham pretty quiet but a couple of quality defensive efforts.

Perth look pretty young so it’s pretty hard to gauge exactly how good we have been but can only go by what you see.

Appreciate the updates fellas, would love to see Hall and Burgiel in particular put their hands up for selection and Johnston show enough to get games into him this year.

Wow, a ripping goal from Harvey Johnston late in the term. Ball was pinging around inside our 50 about 40m out, Johnston came sprinting from the wing into the 50, got the handball receive at full pelt, sold the dummy, weaved inside through traffic and kicked a checkside goal from 25 out.

Sparked a bit of a scuffle too as Harvey got into one of the Perth players afterward.

Hopefully there is some sort of secret stream of this game and that footage gets released at some point
