What dips? Beetroot hummus I betI went to this game. Dockers home game. The Freo supporters in front of us threw their dip platter at an Eagles supporter sitting in front of them during the last qtr when it was clear we would win and nearly started a fight. Sore loser family.
Can’t believe that was Graham’s first game. Career cut way too shortI saw a clip of mark of the year in 2005, which was Luke McPharlin against us in the first derby of 2005. It looked like we lost, so I thought I'd check the scores to find out what occured, only to discover that is was an absolute belter of a game and an awesome comeback.
It featured Eagles coming back from 21 points down, Freo surging to almost re-take it and a whole lot of aggro between two teams that genuinely hated each other. I miss the derbies of this era, Freo had so many punch-able heads (Carr brothers, Farmer, Kickett, Black, Spud-McManus) and we had the best midfield of all time. They were the worst, but it was so satifsying to beat them. I feel the derbies now days have lost most of the passion and feel just like regular H&A rounds.Just watched the first minute
Two bullshit free kicks to Fremantle in a row followed by a 50m penalty and Bell tapping away like an over stimulated chihuahua
I really hated the Fremantle side of that era

First derby at Optus was a great game. Close game that never really got beyond 20 points either way, with the lead seesawing between both sides. Not as physical as the derbies of old but I doubt we’ll ever see them played like that again. Freo should’ve won the game but missed some straight forward shots in the last quarter and we held on to win by 8.Far out forgot how good that match was! The Fremantle crowd going nuts was awesome too. Not sure we have any good derby's since 05 and 06 where they were fierce and close.
It also makes me sad how we only won one flag with that team....

WCE 12g 16b defeated FREO 12g 8b
Wce were inaccurate early and why Freo shot out to a good lead before being pegged back ..

Your disdain and arrogance is heartwarming on a Monday morning! Keep it up!Thanks for that Rowan18.
It was a timely reminder and refresher for me to appreciate just why I hate and despise the purple co(k suckers.
That era of Purples were an easily dislikable team, with so many campaigners in it.
Featured two of my most disliked footballer ever -
The Purple Jesus .... yet to see any other player celebrate a meaningless junk time goal more so that that this twat.

And then the player who was "The Great Pretender" the player who was one of the games biggest front running, down hill skiers, the phoney tough guy who was able to con and hoax free kicks from the white maggots.
Drank his own bathwater, no doubt he was a talented player but his heart string muscle had defects.
" Captain Prance and Dance Around the Field " when his team was winning but conspicuous by his absence when a game was up for grabs or his team was well down on the scoreboard.
Mouthy and liked to sledge.........oh but only when it was one way........ didn't like the sledge coming back his way....Sooky Sooky La La.

Good thing about watching that game is looking back at realising, that since that game we have added two more cupsto the trophy cabinet, to take our tally to
.
Conversely how pleasing it is, knowing that the Violet Crumbles, still have their Premiership Virginity in tack.

Yeah I was watching that WAFL game on TV as it happened. Camera had a pretty good view of it - not often you see such horrific injuries these days, they either happen off the ball slightly or they decide not to show the replaysGood team man, was unfortunately the player who was dropped to make way for Wirra in the 06 grand final after playing every game that year.
Then he had that horrific knee injury in the WAFL![]()
