Saw very little of him this season and I can't recall him being injured so clearly has not been performing well enough to make the 22.

He is going to be 25 next year and I just don't feel that there is a place for him in our team.

What is his contract status and could he also be possible extra trade currency?

Also on the Essendon website on Nash's profile:
2009 Preview

"Jay Nash continued to improve in 2009 playing 21 games and gaining valuable experience. Known for his effective kicking and run out of defence, the 23-year-old has now tallied 41 career games and is a player Matthew Knights will be hoping steps up considerably in 2009."
I cant recall him playing 21 games this year

I heard Port was interested. They probably aren't though 'cause I read it on here and he sucks.

He came close to getting a game towards the end of the season - listed as emergency a number of times.Definetly out of favour though.

If he's not traded or delisted, I can't work out what the plan would be for him.

Trade or delist. He is taking up room on our roster, where we could get a kid, or someone else on there.

I'm a fan of Nash and he actually has a high effective disposal percentage.

Disappointed he didn't get a chance to show his stuff this year. He's out of contract so i can't see us keeping him.

If we do delist him another team is going to pick him up in the PSD for sure.

I am not convinced he is incapable at AFL level. If we can get something for him as a trade, then I wish him the best at a new club. I can see him fitting in at the right place. Clearly his time at Essendon should be up, but I hope he gets another chance. (And wins that Brownlow I said he would,)

Put him in the scuppers with a hose-pipe on him.

Don't think we'd be able to orchestrate a trade, would have thought anyone interested could pick him up via a draft. If port are interested and the Burgoyne deal with Hawks falls through then maybe pick 10 + Lovett/26 + Nash to Port for Burgoyne and pick 40/56, something like that? He'd just be chucked in on the end of something.

Haha.

With Lloyd, Lucas and Lovett gone, as well as at least one of Williams and Skipworth, that's four, possibly five players. In such a weak draft, we might be best holding onto Nash for one more season. This of course, is unless we can get a 3rd round pick or another player for him, or if we land one of our targets from another club.

Let me clarify; I don't rate him, and don't think he deserves to still be on a list, however we could do worse (effectively picking a player after #100 in any other draft) than to keep him for insurance. And you never know; he was taken in the same draft as Dyson.. Could be a late developer. :p

We can surmise that if EFC have 6 players off their list in the year of a weak draft - it suggets they want to trade players in.

yes, but lovett and nash are the only "live" players to trade. and nashy wouldn't attract much, if anything. so lovett might be moved for a player or pick, but nash would most likely be traded for a token 4th round pick. or, lovett and nash might be packaged up in a deal for one player.

will be retained, weak draft.

thrown a lifeline and will take with both hands. Nash to win EFC b&f in 2010.

hope hes reading (because he better prove everyone wrong)

no one is going to give us anything of substance for him alone....might be able to use him in a trade package....not sure who would want him though....maybe if the SB deal falls down with the Dawks, we could use him in a trade to Port with picks and Lovett...
