Didn't even bother with career, too much of a grind.

I don't mind it, but I concede that I probably won't play it forever - will do enough to try and win every grand slam (unless I tire of it before then). Already in the last week I've put more hours into it than I did when I first purchased the game.

I've played online and need to put in more work in my player character, got outworked pretty easily. I was only able to mount a fight back due to the other player fatiguing at certain stages. Otherwise it would have been a bagel defeat for me. Part of it is 1) the lag (clearly wasn't playing a local player) and 2) the guess work, wasn't correctly guessing what direction the ball was going to get hit in. Thus I was generally outplayed.

Finished Quake 4 😊

Enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. Doesn't seem to have the best reputation but I feel as a sequel to Quake 2 it hits the mark. I like how it feels like you're actually part of a wider conflict rather than the big invasion from Quake 2 that ends up being just you.

Also glad I found the config file edits that allow modern machines (10 years old in my case haha) to run it with all the settings cranked up.

Not sure what my next old-game-i've-owned-forever-but-haven't-played-yet choice will be but I've quite liked playing through Portal, Republic Commando and now Quake 4.

I'm thinking maybe Bioshock 2. The only one in the series I haven't played.

Top Spin

Took 5 in game years but I finally got to play a grand slam - end result your new French Open champion

Immediately played Wimbledon after and I won that too :p

Played the Online World Tour with the career player - got dominated again (get wrong footed, but also doesn't help that their players are fully upgraded, while I'm still building my stats lol).

I did play a follow up online exhibition match which was far more even. Started off by trading breaks of serve, then I got the better of the contest with extended rallies. Ended up winning 3 - 1 - 3 - 1. But every game had many points that were 20-30 shot rallies.

That's not how I imagined you to look.

Haha, that's not even a close representation! I used to style myself really when making myself in sports games, WWE games etc. These days I pretty much do a default look and enter my name height, weight etc.

EDIT: This is my created player in AO Tennis 2 on Xbox

And I've got different looks (and hairstyles) on the PS5 and PC versions :p

I do not get buying the same game on multiple platforms at the same time

It varies game by game but it's rare that I buy them all in one hit. I used to do that quite a lot AND at (near) full price too as I've mentioned before I used to buy yearly sports games like FIFA/NBA 2K on xbox/playstation/pc just to be able to play with various friends that had it on one platform.... but not the other.

There are subtle differences in how the games play on every platform (and it's not just the use of a differently shaped controller). If a port is optimised properly the PC Master race is generally the best way to play most games for more beefed up graphics and faster frame rates + loading times vs the console counterparts.

Like I've said before I have different motivations - sometimes it's achievement/trophy related, sometimes it's an excuse to use a console more often that would otherwise be gathering dust (that was my justification for getting Hitman 3 for a third time anyway lol).

I don't see it as breaking the bank balance, quite often I'll have purchased the 3* different platforms of the same game, for under the original RRP of a single copy :p. Using Arkham Asylum as another example (before the Return to Arkham "remaster" - which I did also buy at a later date on the ps4/xbox one) - I gradually collected that game 6 times (standard version on xbox, ps3 and pc + the GOTY editions on xbox, ps3 and pc)......... for less of the cost of the original collectors edition.

AO Tennis 2 as above (assuming that's what triggered your post ?) I purchased it on Xbox first in April 2021 - under $20. From what I played of it, I enjoyed it enough that a short time later I added the pc version to my collection on steam (it was only $18). Considering they're still trying to flog it for $89.95 on Steam, I got to play it on 2 diference platforms for under $40. I added the PS version via PS+.

I don't get it
I don't have that sort of money lying around or the time or interest

I get remasters, I get replay value

I don't care about multiplayer but I understand liking it.

I have the money and live quite comfortably balancing gaming (both time and $$$ wise) along with other commitments like work or other social things.

People spend their income on all sorts of things that others may consider a waste of time or money - strippers (lol), music concerts, movies, hob-knobbing it up at restaurant's, gambling (casino, betting on sports), LEGO, subscribe to 1 or multiple internet streaming service etc. People do what they do.

I impulse purchase a lot of the time. But I can also say no or 'not just yet'. Case in point: I was interested in buying Dark Souls III on another platform. My current choices were $43 or $89.95. I ultimately shelved the idea (temporarily) as both of those prices didn’t appeal. Considering I got my 1st copy of the game for less than $20 years ago.

Now having been awake for close to an hour, I might play a few rounds of Tetris 99 on the Switch before I officially start my day.

I remember being quite disappointed with bioshock 2.

Thinking of getting days gone.. (next time it's on special)

Amazing game get it. I held off when it first came out due to zombie and open world burn out. Grabbed it on sale just as the PS5 came out and was hooked. I've played through it twice and will probably play it again when it's remastered as it's just an excuse to play again. I can't believe Sony's reluctancy to continue this series.

Dark Souls

Began my 1st play-through of the year, doing it semi speed run style - but also seeing how far I can get without dying once. Usually make it to the gaping dragon before dying, sometimes I'll make it to Anor Londo...... Once I even made it to the bed of chaos. Would love to get to the end without dying, but we'll see.

Currently in The Depths.

Been playing Prince of Persia The Lost Crown

Very enjoyable. Enjoy the RPG elements and the gameplay. But ****, figuring out where to go and if you have the right abilities and can progress through an area is a pain in the ass. Keep checking the map every 2 seconds.

played a bit of the cruelty squad developer's new game, psycho patrol r, over the weekend. it's... an interesting experience. it's an immersive sim ala thief or anything akin to that. it's ambitious but really cool.

the art style, like cruelty squad, isn't for the faint of heart

Dark Souls

Been mucking around, doing things slightly different to my usual play throughs. Two examples: Sif was the third "boss" I took out. I normally wait until either just before or after the Anor Londo section. Also I've beaten The Four Kings - did it this time straight after the Smough/Firestein fight. I normally leave The Four Kings until just before the END game part.

Sekiro

My aim was to gradually play through Dark Souls I - III, maybe start a new Elden Ring character as well in time. But I had an inkling to replay Sekiro, so I started that on Monday night... haven't gotten very far, but I do hope to finish it sometime.

Black Myth Wukong

I feel close to the finish line here, but yet have so much more to do lol.

GTA V

Still popping on every now and then to collect more money from the buinsesses.

Xbox

Have actually decided to stop playing games on Xbox for a little while. Maybe a few weeks, maybe a month, maybe longer. What spurned this on was my Xbox subscription lapsing........... I can re-subscribe at any time (have some subscription codes up my sleeve still) - but I'm choosing to hold off for a better date. For years it would resubscribe at the end of a month, in recent times I've noticed it would renew early in the month (curently on the 2nd or 3rd). I'd like to streamline it wiht other services so they all hit at the same time. EG: Monthly internet is on the 5th, Apply music 6th etc etc.

I did something similar with the Playstation Network, although that was more letting the subscription end, so I could re-subscribe at teh cheaper (black friday) price.

Gone through Elden ring and the DLC twice now and finished Lies of P.

God damn i want to play another "Souls like" but every one i boot up just kicks my arse.
I might try Nioh or Nioh 2 as i like the samurai aspect but it flogs me lol.

How is Lies of P? I considered getting it during the Steam sale but opted against it.

I loved the look of it, the bosses especially were amazing to look at and fight.

Story was ok, easy to follow. A couple of branching decisions.. but not sure it actually made too much difference to the story.
Was definitely an easier souls-like though, so if you like a higher difficulty, you may not like it.

But its a beautiful game.

Definitely worth paying an on sale price

An easier souls-like game sounds good to me. I prefer playing games for the story rather than a ridiculous challenge.
