Wow that's a really eclectic range, some country, an MC, some electronic, and then Tame Impala :p

I never really got into alexisonfire, I don't know why, they just kind of slipped past me? But i'm listening to The Northern and it's awesome.

Also something that bugs me, is it Alexis on fire, or alex is on fire? :p

Used to love Johnny Cash too and pretty much listened to Simon & Garfunkel (more folk than country) constantly for about 2 years. I love all kinds of music..! Love drinking wine/beer to any of that music.

It's Alexis on fire.. im pretty sure haha.. yeah used to confuse me when I was younger too.

Havent really listened to the northern but will give it a go when i get a chance.

Also I realised sometimes I type all properly with capital letters etc.. and then I go and just get lazy and start typing without the correct punctuation or whatever and get lazy.. see above ^

Roy Orbison was a genius..
That's all I've got to say..

Yeah.. totally agree. Went and saw an impersonator a couple of months ago at Crown. Was actually amazing and sounded and looked every bit Roy Orbison. It is an odd feeling going to an impersonator but yeah it was good!

Some nice picks fpcookie

timtamWB glad to see you're still repping Circa Survive :thumbsu:

Saosin are definitely awesome, well at least the translating the name and self titled ep's they did with Anthony Green, agree with fpcookie about his ability with going from singing to screaming. They released an EP before they played a show I think, and they got so hyped up from that. Unfortunately I've only seen Saosin with the other singer that took over from Anthony, Cove isn't it? Still really cool though. Also, was lucky enough to catch Thursday about 4 times, including their last ever headlining show in Melbourne. They were a favourite of mine growing up, so it was pretty awesome.

Lately I've been getting back into Bright Eyes... I've loved them for 10 or so years and keep going back to them. Lyricism is awesome. Also lucky enough to catch them in London when I was there. Probably up there with the best live acts I've seen, if not just for the sentimentality of it.

As far as you post-rock fans go, a lot of awesome bands you've named. Been lucky enough to see GY!BE, EITS and Mogwai, all amazing. You guys should listen to a band called This Will Destroy You, one of my favourites of the genre.

Also getting a lot of play time from me lately are Deafheaven - just think of hardcore kids in cardigans playing post rock mixed with black metal mixed with the ambience of shoegaze; and Mammoth Grinder - a hardcore"" band with blasting riffs, so so good.

Love it when you go off one of your favourite bands for a while, then when you go back they're even better than you remember them being. :hearts:

haha yeah Dance Gavin Dance do have quite a lot of screaming. I'm not a fan of over-doing it but I think when done right it sounds pretty good. Can get a nice layering of sounds happening. Their album Downtown Battle Mountain 1 is a pretty good example of that. Their album Happiness has very little screaming at all. The rest of their albums have fair bit. I still need to listen to their new one. Spending a year travelling has put me behind the 8-ball big time with music!!
I can stand it when it's not too overpowering or too prevalent. If the song is filled with it or it's the main voice I'll be turned off it immediately. I also find that for me to like it, it has to be accompanied by a really clean vocalist. Here's an example:

And yeah, you poor baby, travelling for a year! :p

Yeah I wasn't a fan, but had that running through the background, clicked back, and was shocked to see that guy was singing. It sounds exactly like a girl! Or an extremely gay guy :D

McKee is absolutely crazy, I tried playing Drifting and got sad :( For My Father is probably my favourite, just because I can actually play it :p

I do like City and Colour, I should listen to a lot more of his stuff. Great acoustic sounds. I've been listening to this a lot lately:

My mate keeps linking me songs from The Vampire Diaries, and I have to say that they use a lot of damn good songs.
If you click to the end and listen to him actually talk, I think you'll figure out pretty quickly which of those he is... :D

Haha, I'm nowhere near good enough for anything McKee writes. Don't get a chance to play as much as I'd like to unfortunately. Guitar got pushed way down the pecking order of hobbies long ago. :(
That's awesome you can play For My Father though, love that one. Learn Ocean by John Butler. ;)

City and Colour is great. So different to his band, haha.

It's the kind of song I'd normally like, but I can't listen to songs like that lately. Haha.

Got this one off an NBA game today; really love it.

I remember you recommending that first song about 6 months ago! And it's still a great song :D They're Finnish correct? Or French... One of the two :p

McKee makes me sad when I try to play a lot of his stuff :( It's also always in a weird tuning and who has time to retune their guitar? I was going to learn Ocean, and then it picked up and I was like "nope"

I usually can't listen to songs like that, but for some reason I absolutely love that song, and I'm alright listening to it.

The Deftones one has a great groove to it. Not sure on the vocals, but not bad. I've been getting into a guy called Clyde Monet, can sing and rap, this one has an awesome flow:

Oh and thanks for introducing me to Daughter :D I love their stuff now haha

Yeah, I probably did. :p They're Finnish, good memory. Absolutely love them but I go through phases where I don't listen to them for a while. Their stuff is so varied as well; for example:

And then...

McKee makes me sad just listening to him play, haha. Newton Faulkner, too:

I miss Good News Week. :(

I'm not sure what it is about the Deftones one; I heard it watching the basketball today and I immediately had it in my head. Looked up the lyrics straight away and have been hooked ever since, haha.

I like it, but that corny as hell overlay with the real song annoys me a little. Nice voice and well written raps too, though. A YouTube rapper/singer that I enjoy is DeStorm; does some nice stuff.

Did a few covers with Boyce Avenue as well which are awesome.

Haha, no worries. I looked at a couple of their other songs but wasn't a fan. Might have to look a bit harder. :p

I absolutely loved that first song. I wanted it to explode in the last chorus and bring in the distorted guitars and go ballistic, and I was a bit disappointed, but it was still an amazing song. I can't get into the 2nd one at all just not really my sort of stuff, too bluesy :p

I forgot all about Newton Faulkner! He kind of exploded with Dream Catch Me then just went away... He did an awesome cover of Bohemian Rhapsody, literally just him and his guitar. How do you even do that????

DeStorm is pretty damn good, I used to be a subscriber but then I unsubscribed cause I kinda just got over him I guess? I don't know, but he has an awesome flow. His soul toons, where he did acapella covers of theme songs/songs from movies are pretty awesome.

Boyce Avenue are amazing. A Thousand Years is my favourite cover they've done:

But their original music is amazing as well, which I wasn't expecting. I thought they would actually be pretty bad, but I was surprised. Better than their covers.

And I'm going to keep repping Daughter now. You started this :p My favourite at the moment is Still, in the chorus I keep imagining that it would be perfect to integrate into a show, and have a slow dance to it. It's one of the best choruses to any song I've ever heard, it's haunting and the lyrics are beautiful but heartbreaking. And it describes how I felt at one point with someone, and the ones you can relate to are the ones you love the most.

You're right... this is haunting.. & beautiful.. :hearts:

Just gonna go ahead and say it - Wheatus are underrated. A lot of people only know Teenage Dirtbag, but I enjoy a lot of their other stuff.

I don't think it's that they're underrated, it's just that people don't know any other songs, me included. They're probably a good band, the only song I've heard of theirs is good, so the music that I've heard of theirs I like. So not underrated, just unknown,

Probably right. Though the people I know that have heard more than Teenage Dirtbag say they suck.
Definitely not for everyone though.

Wouldn't play for me either. My computer cracks it when there are a lot of youtube clips on the one page too. You prob wouldn't have liked it anyway - Ghost Riders In The Sky - my Dad sang that when he was a teenager

Nightowl this is the first song I thought of, do you know it?

I went and saw these guys live in concert with my friend, and she has a MASSIVE crush on the lead singer. So suddenly he disappears from the stage, and she's wondering where he's gone. She turns around, and he's about 10 metres behind her. I had to literally hold her back to stop her jumping on him :p

Latest Karnivool album. Still tossing up what I think of it.
Yeah I'm not too sure on it, I'm not really a fan of it. You can't really just have it on in the background, you have to actually devote your attention to it and take it in. I think they're trying to go too experimental just for the sake of it rather than just make great music, although it'll probably grow on me and I'll say in a couple of months it's one of my favourite albums.

It has a few great tracks on it though, standout for me was A.M. War, especially the part where it really kicks in at about 1:30. So good. Also it's in something ****ed up like 17/16 :D

Andrew Huang's newest song. Yeah I'm going to keep plugging the guy, he's amazing. Went over the top on the autotune though :( He doesn't need it I don't know why he uses it.

Nice song.. ruined by the electronic fakery...

Electronic fakery, what do you mean? No electronic fakery, just lots of distorted guitars :p I wouldn't have picked you liking it at all, it's in a very strange time signature, and extremely progressive metal.
