How far back do you go? 2013 was Barrass and Sheed who are 30 now. TB left and Sheed had to retire. 2014 just Duggan left. TB was excellent and Sheed was good until his body fell apart. Duggan... tries hard.

It's my view that apart from the '13 and '17 draft, we had a poor decade of drafting to 2020. Perhaps it extends to 2021, but the jury is still out on Hough, Bazzo and JWilliams.

AFL House hates this model. They want control.

Spending over the soft cap would be taxed and the money leaves WA for the AFL to spend elsewhere. The AFL does not fund WA grass roots football development.

So no the WAFC will not allow a football tax to weaken WA football spending.

They need to invest in developing their business ability, not bandaiding over years of shit management. Their issues lie from giving jobs and contracts to those who don't deserve them, unfair loyalty, rubbish list and contract management and horrible player development. They are all business decisions which have plunged the club into despair.

They have the money to send guys to Qatar for treatment, they equally have the money to send execs and football staff to the US to learn from the best, for example - my Philadelphia Eagles won the Superbowl last year. Two in 8 years, two appearances in 3 years. Across 32 teams, a lot of people have never seen one in their lifetime. It's a different setup, acknowledged, but their GM Howie Roseman is widely recognised as the best in the league. He is the absolute pinnacle of player contracts, development and scouting. He is ahead of the curve in every aspect with a lot of these ideologies around sustained success, culture and business definitely compatible with AFL.

As one of the richest, most powerful clubs in the land who share the Eagles name, I'm sure we have some contacts to make something like this happen.

Considering the decrease in our injury list you can't say it hasn't worked either.

Could be done for all WA teams when away; and all nonWA teams in WA. Two games on a six day break. Reduce travel by half. And would not result in any/much more time away from home. FIFO almost.

Always wondered why we have never asked / enquired about combining the Soft Cap and the TPP.

In that we overspend on the Soft Cap and underspend in TPP but we don't go over a combined cap.

Makes sense for the next few years as we don't have many players (except Harley) who will be demanding big salaries. Would definitely get more value with extra coaching and medical rather than overpaying and front loading player contracts.
