To get Quality you have to give Quality. Fevola is the best forward up for trade since Tony Lockett was on the market. At the time we didn't go after him because it would have ruined the progress of Sav Rocca. What happened, Collingwood ended up no where and Lockett helped Sydney into a grandfinal within 3 years, hey we even traded Rocca to North years onwards.Apart from delistings and retirements i think that Collingwood are reluctant to trade any young and valued players.
The likes of Leon, Cloke, Medhurst, Thomas, fraser, Dick, N.Brown, Anthony, Reid, Dawes & Johnson are required players that have had a lot of development and time put into them.
I think that we would have offered Pick #14 & pick #30 and possibly someone like Cook, Stanley or Cox.
Now is the time to make up for that past mistake and Go after Fevola, I absolutely love Cloke, Medhurst, Anthony, Davis, Dawes, hey I even love Rusling even though he will never make it, but eventually we will have to give up on one of these forwards to get Fevola. If we have to trade Reid or Brown I would consider it, Im not saying they wont be good players but it is the risk we will have to take.
Yes we are close to a premiership at the moment, why not fast track it with a true full forward instead of waiting 3 or 4 years until Side Bottom can make the grade, Anthony may become the next big thing but Fevola is already there and who best to teach him how to take the next step, similarly to what Dermie did with Rocca for that one year.
But if we are not in the premiership window that we all believe we are in, then we have to decline the trade, move on some of our older players like Obree, Johnson and develop the Reids and the Browns as they will be our future, but God help us it will be a long process till our next flag, because Malthouse wont win one with our current line up, it will be in Bucks era that we will challenge for our next flag.
