what should essendon do in psd

Cousins, for all his faults, is clearly the best player available.

This fact is only reinforced by a closer examination of the current Essendon midfield.

If he can stay fit and keep on the straight and narrow he'd be a boon for the Bombers as they attempt to build an improved young midfield over the next 3-5 years.

Essendon have always been keen to talk-up their professionalism, so this would be the perfect time to back themselves to oversee the rehabilitation of a very talented, but troubled footballer.

very good response...i agree whole heartedly

I don't have a problem with Cousins.

As far as his football is concerned, he's an excellent choice. But people are too quick to condemn him as a drug-addict and therefore a bad boy who will damage our club on and off the field. In reality he's an ex-drug-addict and keen to make a positive step in leaving his depression and difficult drug habit behind, demonstrated by his complete willingness to embrace the extravagent and unevadable strictures that have been placed on his return to the AFL.

A return to a life of footy that he loves is the best thing he can possibly do to help himself, especially considering those strictures, and we should support him wholeheratedly, not condemn him with prejudices. By dismissing him as a risk we are giving up on him and rejecting our responsiblity to help this man. Does he not deserve a chance to redeem himself?

And there is no better club than Essendon to embrace his resolutions to return to top footy and get his life back on track. Our professionalism, player support and striving for excellence is the perfect environment for Cousins. He needs us and we need him. I truly belive that at Essendon he'll prevail in his life and we'll prevail on the scoreboard. Let's do the right thing and get behind this great footballer!

Cousins would be an excellent pick up, and a great addition to our midfield (that's if he'd be sensible, and a reliable team member).

But I think a young recruit like De Boer would be another good option, I believe De Boer has lots of ability and will become a good midfielder, so this could be another quality pick up.

However, in my mind, Skipworth is one of those players that can shine in the VFL, but then when they get to AFL, they aren't on the same level. So I don't think Hayden would be the right choice for our club.

New recruit (for long term gain) or Cousins (for a top 8 tilt)

Skipworth just smacks of somewhere in the middle, ie - someone that will probably play 11 games, average 10-15 touches and spend half the game on the bench. And most likely be delisted at the end of the year.

i think essendon can make a play for finals with in the next 2 yrs so thats why im saying cousins cause that will definitlky help them in more ways that 1

I voted Skippy, not that i rate him. (But i haven't seen enough of him.

And also probably because i dont want you scooping up the Cuz.

While we're on the subject of Ben.
Does anyone know if the Bombers are speaking / have spoken to Cuz.
If not you don't really think Windy Hill would pick him up just beacause we are interested or on a wim do you ?

nahh mate ess prob wont get him which i think is stupid...dont think there talking to him

Unless Skipworth has improved out of site since we delisted him, Essendon would be much better off having Cousins on their list than him
If Skipworth has improved a lot though, and looks like he could have a good career with the Bombers then good luck to him
I would say they will take a young player though

Cousins

1. It would piss off richmond
2. Knights only wants skipworth as he has clearly fallen in love with every bendigo player after coaching them and would draft all of them if he was allowed
3. Cousins is the A grade midfielder you desperatly need.

I voted for Cousins as Essendon lacks top midfielders.

I will not be disappointed if we opt for the youngster but i will be extremely disappointed if we select Skipworth. Skipworth will play some good games early but his time at Essendon will be similar to that of Mark Alvey.

Cousins>>>>>young recruit>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Skipworth
