I've had enough of all of these kents already.

Nothing would satisfy me more right now than drafting H.Reid and watch him kick a bag against the tin-rattlers.

And anyone else wanting to entertain splitting the pick in this massively compromised draft needs to give themselves an uppercut as well.

BASED ON ASSUMPTION NORTH GET MACKAY CONCESSION PICK 3.

North trade 2,3
GC trade 5, 2024 F1
WC trade 1

North receive 1, GC 2024 F1
GC receive 2
WC receive 3,5

Draft night

1 Reid (NM), 2 Not Curtin (GC), 3 Curtin (WC), 4 Walter (GC - Match Haw bid), 5 ... (HAW), 6 ... (WC)

North have a Rd 1 pick banked for 2024.

I can't see how anybody loses here.
1. Reid (NM)
2. Not Reid (GC)
3. Not Reid (WC)
4. Not Reid (GC)
5. Not Reid (HAW)
6. Not Reid (WC)

NM win, everyone else loses.

Would you have described Brander as a big-bodied mid?

He was bigger and heavier than both Reid and Hewett and he also played mid, albeit outside.
Yes, Brander, when played as a midfielder, he is a "big bodied" mid.
However, skill and body size are two different attributes.

Would you consider Viney a bid-bodied mid?

Dustin Martin?

Clayton Oliver?
Actually, (as you know) there is no standard written definition for this.
You can answer those questions yourself based on your standard.
However, one must not mix "body size" with other attributes.

Probably, we all remember that Matt Rowell in 2019 was regarded as "generation talent". He was a clear number 1 pick at the time winning ball in the middle against bigger bodied players. He was explosive but has never been regarded as a "big bodied" midfielder.

All we need now is for someone to try and differentiate between inside mids and inside bulls while getting strangely worked up about it all and we're at peak pre-draft bullshittery.

I wonder if we can include certain club posters/members in any trade deals with the smaller clubs. (Granted that is most of the otber clubs).

Win-win as we would still remain over the 100k mark.

Being a 'big-bodied' mid is irrelevant anyway.

Either you're good at the contest, or not. Having a bigger body helps in certain situations but ultimately doesn't make a huge difference if your desire to win the ball is lacking.

Reid has the desire in spades.

If he’s still available at 19 I’d take M. Edwards in a heartbeat! As I’ve long said; BW should be at FF and that leaves Barnett! Not sure how he’s coming along but he doesn’t get much of a mention in WAFL stats. Bigs do take longer but Edwards coming in now with his size will grow with the potent midfield we are assembling. I’ve always said that you need dominant big men.Having a plethora of mids doesn’t necessarily make for a dominant side. E.G. the GWS side of a few years ago. Mumme was big and tough but not greatly skilled.Lycett and Vardy were skilled.Barnett may make it but his body shape appears more athletic and possibly not suited to the crash and bang of ruckwork. Dominating underage is not the same as crunching with the big boys.
Anybody that’s seen a bit of Edwards; what’s he like in the physicality stakes??

Not disputing that we are going to have pick 1 again next year. That may well happen. I agree about not trading number 1 pick this year.

But I don’t think we will miss either Hurn or Shuey greatly. Shuey contributed in a few games in patches, sometimes for only a quarter or a half. Hurn contributed well in the thirteen games he played but I think his role can be covered by others such as McGovern, Barrass, Hough, Cole, even Witherden. Fitness is the key.

I question whether we will bottom out any further. We have nothing left to lose.
Older players who came back and helped out later in the year such as Cripps, Gov, Yeo weren’t there for most of the year so they weren’t really a factor.

I guess the hope is by the time these older players are phased out younger ones such as Bazzo, Hough, Long, Brockman, Ginbey, Hewett, Reid etc will be ready to take over. We wait and see.
I just hope that Victorian Press get off our backs and stop calling for people to be sacked all the time! looking at you Caro and Cornes. Shuey was still very serviceable this year even with injuries, the guy was elite till the end. If we turn around in the last 6 or 7 games next year I will be positive for a 2025 rise up from the bottom.

Don't worry, Caro has turned to attacking Dimmas comments made two weeks ago (slow news week? Oh look it's the bye..) so we're off the hook for the moment.

Targeting McAdam may mean Melbourne have given up on taking pick 1 off us. I’d imagine they will need to use a half decent pick for him which they won’t be able to use to get pick 4.
