whats the most important area on the field that the Dees need to improve on come draft time... With some good picks coming up this year we should start planning now.

major clean out required. I believe trade Green, Johnstone (unless he lifts his work rate), Miller, C johnson and Yze (if we could get something for them) and delist at least the following; Godfrey, Wheatley, Brown, Warnock and Jamar.
Give biz a game and don't drop him after one game.

1. We will need a big goalkicker once Neitz and Robertson finish up.

- Miller is a CHF and he could be a good one, but he isn't the goalkicking solution we need.
- Dunn could be a good player. He has good hands and seems composed with the ball. But he will need another big body next to him.
- PJ hasn't proved much at senior level yet and there is a query on his contested marking, which is a crucial element of becoming a good forward.
- Newton is still trying to make a name for himself in the VFL Seniors. He might show a bit in the future but I wouldn't lay our hopes on him to become our next full forward.

2. We need a ruckman who can adequately replace White in the near future.

- Jamar seems to have taken a backwards step in his development. It would be suicide relying purely on him once White retires.
- PJ doesn't even seem to be tried in the ruck anymore, so who knows if he is up to it.
- Don't know what Neaves progress is but the fact that he was taken as a rookie suggest he mustn't have been rated too highly as a junior.

3. We'll also require a full back, given that Carroll and Holland are neither young nor the most reliable options.

- Rivers is good where he is, and he doesn't have the frame to play full back either.
- Ferguson isn't a young bloke anymore but he is still as light as a 17 year old.
- Warnock is yet to take the next step, who knows if he ever will. I wouldn't bank on it, but if he does then it's a bonus.
- Frawley will hopefully become a good defender one day. If he puts on some muscle and gets a few games under his belt, then he could be our option.

I think we will have enough hard-bodied midfielders in the future. McLean, Sylvia, Moloney and Jones. We aren't in desperate need of them anymore, but as time goes on, obviously we should draft them when necessary.

Fast outside midfielder who can break the lines would be handy. Maybe trade for Tenace? He wouldn't be worth too much these days? High 2nd Rounder?

As for the draft... we need a new ruckman definately but how long would it be until they have any real impact? By that time White, Neitz, Robbo, Yze, McDonald will all be gone or good enough as gone.

You also didn't mention Garland as a tall forward or defender. He's tall...he'll put on weight. We can't expect 'em to all come out of high school looking like Tom Hawkins.

Strong key defender, Ferg's just hasn't got the strength, and his injuries wouldn't have helped his confidence either.

Developing ruckman, i think a trade for Cameron Wood should be on the cards, rather than drafting one as they take about 3-4 years to fully mature.

Speed, speed and more speed!!!

We need a Neitz replacement, and that means a 195cm+, 100kg+ tall forward who can play there for the next 10 years.
Obviously it is unlikely the player we pick up will be as good as Neita, but we desperately need a big strong KP forward. Secondly we need a ruckman as I don't think Jamar or Johnson will cut it as our no.1 ruck in years to come when White is gone.

There are no shortcuts to getting a quality ruckmen. Brisbane would want a top 5 pick for Cameron Wood. You cant pick up quality without giving up quality..this is a notion that some people can just never understand. We need to pick the bet available player with our first pick and possibly go for a key position forward or backmen with our second pick which I reckon will be around pick 20.

I don't know why people don't consider Frawley, Garland, Dunn and Newton future key position prospects. They are skinny now but will bulk up and are all about as tall as Neitz. Rarely are draft picks, even really tall ones, over 95kg

That's a good point. You never know how picks are going to turn out, but given the amount of stocks we have at forward, I change my pick to a ruckman. I seriously can't see PJ or Jamar getting the job done once White's finished, based on what we've seen up to this point. They'd have to come about in leaps and bounds.

If we draft a ruckman they might turn out to be a better key forward or back anyway. If we draft a 192cm key forward or back there is no way they are turning into a ruckman unless they hit some serious roids.

I actually think our first pick should be on the best player. Regardless of position.

As far as the ruck is concerned, I'd scale the country especially the SANFL, VFL and WAFL looking for a couple 20 - 22 year olds who are developed and performing well for a senior side.

I think recruiting 18 year old ruckmen is fine but we want someone who can play straight away.

The club needs to invest in a decent ruck coach, maybe Clark Keating, that can get the best out of Jamar, P Johnson and Neaves as well as anyone else we pick up.

I'm not expecting 100kg+ to start off with, but they have a big frame so they can fill out in a few seasons.
