Haha yes agreed. Kate Capshaw's Willie would have to be one of the worst characters ever.
Wasnt the point of her to be all whiney and posh and above all this peasantness. *sprays the elephant with perfume [emoji23]

If she annoyed so many people she obviously did a great job

Her and Indy blended well I thought. Love Short Round.

I'm another one that hadn't seen (or remembered) the Indiana Jones films until a few years ago, and also don't enjoy them.

I'm guessing it'd be different had you grown up with them, but watching them now as an adult, they weren't for me at all.

The first had moments, but Temple of Doom would be one of my least favourite films in the last 10 years.

That's one way of looking at it. Personally, being on screen the majority on the runtime, she made it a tedious viewing experience. I always found Marion a little irritating as well, but it works to the film's advantage.

Watched The Dig on Netflix. Excellent performances by the two leads and the first half of the film is engrossing.

However, about half way through they introduce these new characters who add nothing to the story - especially the woman with the obviously gay husband who falls for another character. Who the hell cares and why did this engaging film suddenly become a stupid pointless romance about side characters?

Worth watching but beware.

I guess it was to pad out the story a bit. May have been a bit thin with out the extra side stories added.

I watched the first Indiana Jones last year for the first time and it really disappointed me. I thought it'd be so much better than it was and I haven't bothered with the others.
I reckon most old movies you've heard are 'awesome' and you haven't seen would be pretty crap when viewed for the first time

We got half way and turned it off. I could have kept going but the missus had had enough. I think both of us were in 'cant be bothered watching a movie' mood so may revisit at some time.

Watched ‘Joker’ again today.....Such a good performance from Joaquin, just wish I wasn’t such a fan of the comics & knew the real backstory of the Joker (Killing Joke by Alan Moore), because this one apart from the failed comedian part is very far off....But the actual study into a man with very bad mental health was extremely well done....Really Hope Warner Bros change their mind & continue on with the story as it’d be a great watch. 👍

I don’t go much on apocalypse now, that’s maybe about the only one.

Don’t go much on the godfather's either but tbh I don’t go much on the entire genre so that doesn’t say much specifically about those films.

I love war movies especially but yeah, Apocalypse Now is not one I rate at all.
Too much trippy stuff analyzing Brando’s character, and just a slog to get through.
Platoon does a much better job of showing us the Vietnam war.

Yeah godfathers are a bit different. It’s such a slow build up to understand when you go from 1 - 2, but the payoffs are great.

Can't actually think of many old school classics I've seen for the first time after say, 25 years old. There's the two mentioned above. There's the old 007 flicks, many of which I enjoyed a lot.

I actually thought I would really like it. It got a bit sci-fiy and I didn't like that at all. I thought it had aged very badly too.

Think it depends on the era too.

I remember as a 20 year old watching Gone with the Wind and Casablanca etc. and thinking they were incredibly slow and the acting was almost pantoesque.

I reckon around the 80's the acting style and pacing of movies changed alot.

I always hated black and white movies as a kid growing up so never got into any old movies.

One old movie i did get into as a kid was 'Jason and the Argonauts' - just loved the special effects for the time it was made. Those skeletons and the big statue just blew my mind

I was born in 87 so its not like i had any real exposure to old films. I became a bit of a cinephile as a teen and decided to watch some of the classics in my early 20's.

There is a huge difference in the way films were made, scripting, direction, cinematography, stunts, editing.

Older movies are inherently slower and if youve only grown up on modern films, older films are just totally different.

I always enjoy watching older films and seeing the techniques that still work (the Dolly Zoom shot for example).

My wife recently watched 12 Angry Men (the original from the 50s) and was really taken aback with how much they did that we use today, the filming techniques etc.

If you dont enjoy that stuff its likely the old stuff will just be slow to you.

I just cant do classics. Idk why. Except maybe Hitchcock- does he count??

I need to get into more (semi normal) Art Houses and foreign.
Have seen some belters on SBSWM channel, I wanna see more.

Hitchcock defs counts as classics.

I really enjoy the classics, cant really do Arthouse or Silent.

Foreign is great, although some do "suffer" from the overacting Panto thing, especially alot of asian cinema (specifically Korean and Chinese).
