When a torrent is "seeding"...

When its no longer downloading and only uploading is when a file is being seeded. It will last as long as you let it upload.

So it shouldn't stop me from viewing it? I opened the file but can only hear sound, there's no picture.

I've tried Quick Time and Windows Media, still nothing. It's an MP4, so maybe that's it?

Slightly off-topic, but I also have a question.

Can I burn a torrent file, which plays on VLC Player and is an MP4 type file to a DVD disc so I can watch it on a DVD Player? If so, how?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, im just not very computer illiterate.

If you burn it as an MP4, the DVD players has to have the capability to play MP4s. Not many do (although a lot of cheap brands do have this feature). Most decent brands support DivX playback (which is more often than not an AVI file... not sure if files with DivX as the extension qualify... never tried it). However, to play BOTH DivX and MP4, you'll need to find a DVD player that does both. They're harder to find than I thought. I did manage to pick up a cheapie for $40 at EzyDVD last year, though. :p

Otherwise, you should be able to burn the file into DVD format, but you'd need an application that can handle this. Basically, it takes your MP4 files and turns it into the files you see on a regular DVD.

ConvertXToDVD will be able to convert MP4 to DVD format and burn as well.

Wouldn't being "not computer illiterate" make you pretty cluey when it comes to computers? :p

I've been wanting to point that out without looking like a dick since I saw it. Cheers. :D

the size sometimes matters ...... 30 isn't bad for the biggies.....

eg: I'm downloading this 54 gig one (pilot guides/lonely planet) and it'll probably take about a month

same deal with the 45 gig daily show extravaganza.... average about 40-50k...

anyways..... aust have terrible upload speeds so you're lucky if you get 100ks plus.

Leechers are people who are "sharing" off you. If you know waht I mean.
And if you port forward correctly, you'll find that you may get a significant boost in speed.
But it all depends on the torrent that you're downloading from if it has any seeds.

http://www.dvdflick.net/ is brilliant. It converts .avi, .mp4, .mkv, .mpeg and .wmv (among others) files to DVD vob files. Easy to use.

After you've converted your file to DVD format you might need to shrink it to fit on a 4.7 GB disk - use http://www.dvdshrink.org/.

You need a codec. Go to download.com and search codecs. :thumbsu:

With the seeding, that's sharing it with other people so they can download it. Try upload as much as you downloaded, as some sites ban you if you're ratio (Upload: Download) is too low.
