When exactly will Gibbs turn into James Hird?

We all know the tag. 'This kid is going to be the next James Hird'

So far I just don't see it.

Season 1 was a huge fail for Gibbs, I think that's an undisputed fact now and it goes without saying. I won't even quote the statistics, you've seen his first year.

Season 1 was a great year for Hird, averaging 16.4 disposals, 5.6 marks and 1.9 goals.

Season 2 was another mediocre year for Squibbsy, statwhoring his way to an average of 20 disposals, 5.6 marks and .7 goals a game. Still well below Jimmy's debut year.

Season 2 was an even better year for Hird, averaging 19 disposals, 7.2 marks and 1.4 goals.

Season 3 Jimmy Hird averaged 19 disposals, 7.4 marks and 2 goals a game Somehow I don't think Squibbsy's going to hit that mark.

We also haven't seen any glimpse of James Hird's toughness, leadership and footy smarts.

I hope we see it soon, but so far it's just an ability to accumulate meaningless possessions.

Squibbsy 13 disposals, 0.2 goals

Year 2 Hodge had OP, Year 3 same.

Next you'll be wanting to pit Squibbsy against Hird that year when Jimmy had those foot fractures.

Well, first squibbs needs to grow some plums and quickly.

Then learn how to put his head over the football and get it.

Finally, master the ability to actually do something with the footy, like his fellow number 1 brother Murphy.

Even with all that which isn't even a quarter of what he needs to reach elite status, he wouldn't be able to smell a fart of James Hird, in fact he'd dive for cover thinking its actually a bomb exploding.

Unbelievable.
