When will the stand be 'properly' named?

Will it just be known as the Eastern stand until some predetermined date?

Spot on. The Geelong council named something after someone who was still alive that ended up in jail, so it's now part of council policy (I believe) to only name stuff after dead people, to avoid embarrasment.

The other idea that a friend of mine suggested:
If we're allowed to have stands named after sponsors, form the Bobby Davis Company Pty Ltd and let the naming rights to it for $1 a year.
