Rohan, I feel you raised a normal question and the discussions weren't at all perverted or offensive so I don't get why it had go.

Just good discussion... and I am a Greer-loving chick, who doesn't appreciate chest stares at all. My breasts are for feeding a child, if I ever have one - not for the oogling of under and over sexed males.

That is why the discussion was good.

*whatever*

I think the moderators are a tad close minded Jen. The body is a wonderful form thus we should celebrate it.

While I was down at a cafe in Sorrento last week (I had my Birks on!) I noticed a young mum (MILF) feeding her child. Being rather young and immature some of my mates had a stare while I looked the other way.

However it raised an interesting question. Should mothers be allowed to breast feed in public?

Personally, I know I shouldn't feel this way as a woman, but I find it uncomfortable myself - moreso because of how it can make other people feel.

I know I should be proud enought to be able to flop it out wherever and breast feed but I just wouldn't do it because a) I feel it is un-necessary in the middle of the Chadstone foodcourt or wherever to do so and b) Out of consideration of others.

I love my breasts (well sometimes) and as many times as I say "My body - blah" - it is a temple, everybody's is. But I feel there is a time and place for everyone and to retreat to an area of privacy or at least, cover up, is something that I would just do.

But then again, I got in an argument at work yesterday because I insist on being called 'Miss', not 'Ms'.

:)

Very profound, Rohan. And something which deserves a thread of its own, IMO.

We have our opinions on that, but won't comment until the thread is started... go for it. :D

Cheers,

Of course. Breast feeding is the best way to feed a child. Its free, sterile and always available on demand without the inconvenience of sterilising every thing that goes near the babies face.
Baby change rooms are usually only big enough for one or sometimes two parents and their babies anyway and babies dont always want to wait until there is somewhere more convenient to eat. Anyhow if the change room is full where are you going to go? Sit in the dunny and feed your baby? I dont think so.

What are birks anyway?

Hi Rohan,

I chopped the Cleavage thread, as it was hijacked for purposes of abuse. It had so many wounds it just needed to be put down.

I'm sure you'll realise I was also sad to see it go, as I was finally about to learn the full uses of a mansier ... or whatever it was.

Short for Birkenstocks. An open-toed and open-heeled sandal with leather uppers (usually) and cork soles, and originally made popular in California, naturally.

I always thought it was something all the counter-culturals wear-- for example, my mother, who basically is so much of a bleeding-heart liberal she needs an IV in order to vote :D , she's worn them for years and years and swears by them-- but I'm wearing them now, and only because they're so damn comfortable!

I had to buy a pair out of necessity a couple of years ago because an old pair of sandals of mine broke down one morning and the ones I had to buy were all I could find on my way to work, but they have really lasted very well. And yes, they are so damn comfortable!!

Nowadays, the term "birks" refers more to the style than the brand name. Mine are definitely the style, rather than the brand name, as well. And I have no complaints. :D

Cheers,
William

Anyone one see the news piece (I think it was on Channel Ten last week) about males living longer if they look at breasts?

Can't remember the full story (I was too busy looking at breasts throughout the news piece ;)) but apparently, a British study found that males looking a breasts for 10 minutes a day is just as healthy for men as a strenous workout at a gym. Apparently it relaxs men, lowering their heart rate, etc.

10 minutes a day does seems a long time though, dunno if even I get up to 10 minutes!

I think it's natural for men to look at cleavage for a certain length of time if it catches their eye, any more than say 3 seconds and the guy's just oogling, same if the guy's specifically looking around for cleavage.
