Where do moved threads go?

Probably to the ancient mystic society of the scratching post.

Content that is not overly footy related ends up there.

This board has gone way, way, over the top with moderation.

You'd think that was posted on the BHP interweb

And on that note.

where did the grand final videos go?

i wanted to watch the last few minutes of the GF again, the one with the 3AW call, but the thread has gone. anyone know where? i cant find the final few minutes on youtube either, and i really want to see it before bed :(

Re: where did the grand final videos go?

it appeared in my threads section, but not the main geelong board. definitely confused, but i found it. sorry for the hassle :o

Usually they are linked to where they have been moved to but the ones on the page atm require "privileges" to see them???
Most non-footy related threads are moved to the The Scratching Post.

If you have not joined, follow the steps here.

If we have three threads on, for example, Mumford's contract status and potential transfer, I think it is appropriate to merge them into one. This makes it easier to find other threads on relevant topics on page 1, rather than having to dig through the masses of similar threads pushing others back to the later pages.

If you have any problem with how this board is run, the moderators are more than happy to take on advice.

Re: where did the grand final videos go?

in the my bigfooty section. the old grand final you tube thread was still in my list of subscribed threads as an active thread...
Ah found it here.

People seem to be going out of their way to complicate things.

I joined big footy to get up to date information and discussion about anything to do with Geelong. Plain and simple - if it involves anything to do with the football club, wether it's on field -off field - photos etc ... just leave it on the bloody club page and stop all this crap with merging threads.

If people don't want to read the thread then they won't .... am I making this too simple ? I'm not interested in joining bloody scratching posts and whatever other infantile crap people come up with to over complicate a very simple site.

There's some feedback !

It isn't complicated at all. It takes approximately 2 minutes of your time to join The Scratching Post, even if you never go in there you have the option. If you seen the stuff we put in there you will be grateful it doesn't clutter the main board.

threads are only merged when you get multiple threads about the same topic, with basically the same types of posts in them. This actually makes it simpler for you to find what people are saying about a particular topic, rather than finding all the different threads about it. Very simple.

Our site isn't over complicated. In fact we try hard to put all the information out there so you can understand how to access things. But even if we do many of you often don't bother checking it out anyway. Then whine about it.

there's some feedback for you ;)

I'm happy to take your comments on board.

However I think you'd be surprised at the mess that there would be left if we didn't merge threads. You'd arrive to the Geelong Board and find that the 25 unstickied threads that fit on page 1 would cover about half the diverse, structured range of issues that you can currently see at one glance on the main page.

You say you want it simple. But would you want to visit the Geelong Board in search of a current thread or news item, only to have to wade through clutter and eventually find it on page 2 or 3 of the board? Because, quite frankly, that is what will happen.

Most often the merging happens within the first few posts of a new thread and goes unnoticed. However sometimes this is not nipped in the bud and instead, two threads exist where the exact same debate and arguments are occurring. Sometimes these are merged at a later date, and I can see how this could lead to some frustrations if the posts then seem jumbled. Very rarely would threads be merged without a high degree of correlation, and most often this practice occurs because the thread starter did not search for an existing thread on the same topic.
