If you play sport yourself, do you get more wrapped up in your own teams' resultsor your AFL team (or soccer/cricket/whatever team).

Personally I care about my own sport more.
I think because I am involved myself, winning and losing means a lot more to me.

I dont get to see many Sydney Swans games, because I am playing football. And I dont mind this. I wouldnt have it the other way around because I love playing too much.

I get a lot more involved in AFL. It really doesn't worry me if my netball team loses, or if our footy team loses (ha...we're used to it!), it really doesn't affect me. But, if Essendon lose, or have problems....well, you wouldn't wanna get in my way. I'm not the best person to be around on Monday mornings LOL.

Personally I care more about my teams result. It effects you greater and generally I'm more pissed off when my team loses than when WC do.

I'd die to have won any of the six losing GF's I was in.

That said, I'd probably say Hawthorn means more to me, especially now I've quit footy.

The Hitman

I'd definitely rather win a cricket or hockey premiership than Carlton win one, although that's partly because I've been through a few Carlton flags but haven't won any of my own.

Indoor soccer I probably care a bit less about, it's more fun than serious, although a premiership would be fantastic.

Technically one, but I always injure myself everywhere, plus I have year 12, Hawthorn, and Box Hill to concentrate on.

I don't really take my club footy that seriously as my coach found out this year and I drove him crazy :D

But I'd so much more rather a Doggies premiership then win one of my own at my footy or cricket club. That's just how passionate I am about the Doggies :p

I take my sport very seriously, i hate losing, and love to succeed, as im sure everyone does, but im the kind of person that gets really disappointed with a loss, or a bad individual performance.

having said that, i would MUCH rather a collingwood premiership than any personal sporting premiership.

I've played in 6 grand finals, and won 5.
1 Footy grand final, which i wouldnt swap for anything. that was probably the best day of my life, it would only be topped by a collingwood flag.
2 cricket grand finals, 1 win and 1 loss. The loss hurt alot, becos we were expected to win.
and 3 indoor cricket grand finals. Won all 3. We have lost 1 game in 3 seasons.

I've had a fair bit of success when we've actually made it to the grand finals, but i've also had alot of tough years.
My first 4 years of footy, we only won 2 or 3 games. So it hasnt all been good!

But, i would swap a collingwood flag for all personal sporting achievements for sure. without any hesitation

I'm pretty competitive and i've played a lot of sport over the years. Team sports such Netball, Volleyball, Football and Softball as well as being part of Athletics, Cross Country, Swimming and Surfing teams.

I've been lucky enough to play in some great teams and won a number of premierships. In 1999 at the Australian CrossCountry Championships myself and a couple mates from school had the opportunity to represent Victoria, a win meant we'd run for Australia in Morocco at the World Champs. Unfortunately third was the best we could manage. That occasion would be the only time i'd ever even think about sacrificing a Lions Premiership!

I'm pretty passionate about my sport but Footy will always come first!!

;) :p ;)

As a youngster I was in the position of playing footy in a losing grand final and in the same year watching the Hawks go down in the last quarter in the Grand Final to some bloody mob wearing black and red.

In the game I played we went down by 2 points and I took it like a (11 year old) man. However, a couple of weeks later when the Hawks went down I cried for hours.

The point of this parable is not that I was (and probably still am) a shocking sook but that I'd take a Hawthorn Premiership over any personal glory. On the flip side I take a Hawthorn loss harder than any personal sporting failure.

I get wrapped up in both. You can talk about A.F.L. with friends but they dont really care if you win or lose a game, how you get a goal. etcetra. However playing and winning gives you a high.

When i was playing i cared much more about my teams performance than the Hawks (the team i supported back in the 70s).

This was because i couldn't really do anything to make the Hawks win, whereas if my team lost it was something that i contributed to and it reflected on me as a player, so i take much more pride in an East Sydney win then a Hawthorn win.

Now, obviousbly im not playing, and being a Perth-born boy, im an avid follower of the Eagles.

I care about Hawthorn winning games..it's more satisfying than any sport I play cos I'm a loser when it comes to playing the real thing plus I got no skills to show off. But I do like playing soccer cos I kick ass at school

I get much much much more pissed off when Carlton lose than when my soccer team loses. I'd take a Carlton flag (and soccer world cup qualification:( ) over my soccer team winning a flag anyday. Not that I'm saying I wouldn't want my team to win it, but I play sport more for fitness and enjoyment.I love to win, but if I don't I get over it.

My soccer team is pathetic....we won 3 games this season, and averaged somethin like 5-6 goals conceeded every game.

LOL we suck so I couldnt care if we lose, but if the mighty crows go down......

After making it to 7 grand finals, winning one, (in which i didn't play :( [wonder why we won :D ]) I would love to win one.

when we lose a grand final i take it very hard. I don't usually speak at all, stay locked away in my room, lying on my bed just wondering what it wouda been like. I take my sport seriously.
