I know there is a thread on this but i thought it would be interesting to see what the numbers were like in a poll. Which rookies do you want to be promoted?

I chose Aaron Joseph and Jeff Garlett then i remembered we can elevate one after like round 12 or something like that,
so i think we should have Joseph and Jacobs
then Garlett later on in the year, so he can bulk up a bit,
i was reading in todays paper the herald sun, something about a deadline being tomorrow week,

Looks like Jacobs has already gone in, and Joseph is a natural tagger who did a cracking job on Ablett. Can see him being a key to disrupting play through our midfield and chasing the ball down into our HB line.

Garlett (or Gartlett) would have been my next choice but misses out because he's still 5-10kg off senior footy and Yarran looks to be the small-medium forward we were looking for there.

Oh, the luxury of having so much talent in the wings. Love it. :thumbsu:

You dig it the most, BB! :thumbsu:

Great assessment BB :thumbsu:

I read somewhere that we are going to promote 2 rookies prior to Round 1.

Joseph and Garlett for me :thumbsu:

Promote or nominate?

Definately out of Jacobs, garlett and joey for mine.

question carlton-ites...is there room for yarran, betts and gartlett in the same forward line? i like the look of all 3, it could be a unique and potent trio if all were whipping around the forward 50..

Well Ratten was certainly interested in finding out:

Carlton coach Brett Ratten said he had specifically picked Garlett to add to the small forward pressure role of the seasoned Eddie Betts.

Ratten said he had wanted Betts, Garlett and draft pick Chris Yarran on the ground at the same time against the Roos , but was thwarted when Yarran rolled his right ankle late in the first quarter.

Question Collingwood-ite: Is there room for Medhurst, Didak, Davis and Thomas in the same forward line? ;)

sweet. i would be loving the prospect of the 3 of them on field, all 3 have the potential to rip it up...against anyone but us though hopefully. hehe

as for your question yoss, i hope that of the 4 mentioned that only medhurst plays as a permanent forward week in week out. i really wanna see leon played on ball, where he can weave his magic. didak and dale to rotate 50/50 between half forward/forward pocket and on-ball.

then there is brad dick to squeeze in too somewhere i hope...hmm

Amen to that!

But not to that :p

Similarly, the goal with Betts and Yarran is for them to improve their endurance so that they can play in the midfield too :thumbsu:

I'm leaving that one alone...

I went Gartlettnd Jacobs, but Joseph could easily have squeezed in either spot. Maybe better to wait till Gartlett gets some time at the bullants and promoting him come round 12? Just my thought.

IMO Jacobs will be nominated due to the lack of match fitness of Warnock and the likelihood of injury rate of at least one of the rucks. At this stage Joseph for the second nomination because he fits best for team balance. Although not getting much of the ball himself he has shown in the 3 NAB matches that he can quell the most dangerous running players of the opposition.

Garlett will be in the mix for the round 12 nomination, however with his current body shape he may struggle to make it through a full season.

By round 12 we will have had a good look at Pfeiffer, Bentley, Ellard, Hill and Stanton and hopefully at least one or more will be demanding selection.

Joseph and Garlett for me :thumbsu:
Totally agree:thumbsu::thumbsu:
Joseph (to play against Richmond on Brown)
Garlett (to add that spark of speed and unpredictability in the Forward line)
We will definetly (unfortunetly) have injuries during the year which will allow others to be elevated plus the added one after round 12.
Therefore it is possible we could end up playing at least 4 rookies through the year (:D Joseph, Jacobs, Garlett, Bentley). The one's to be left to next year may be :(Stanton, Hill, Ellard, Pfieffer.
We can't fit them all in unless we get more than one "long time injury" and we don't want that.

I really don't see the point in promoting Garlett this year. If you don't believe the hype, you'll see he has shown he has definite talent, but his kicking is below average and the time will come in 2009 where his skinny body will give up and scream for a rest. He's just not ready for senior footy week in week out. It's not just about elevating those who show they have some talent, whether they're ready for it is another issue altogether.

Bentley can't kick either, but he's built like a brick sheethouse and could give us something in the clinches, and do it all year. Not saying I would elevate him, rather just showing the thought out other alternatives.

For me it'd be Jacobs, and Jospeh.

I heard that Warnock is still limping, so chances are we will not see him until mid year at best, so it stands to reason we need a in-form ruckman elevated and that's Big Red Mark 2.

And Joseph showed on the weekend he has the pace and strength to do a decent job on a star like gazz Jnr, and this is the sort of player we are screaming out for.

Hill - not yet no thanks
Pfeiffer - already can play I believe
Ellard - OK but there's better options to elevate
Stanton - no way
Bentley - no thanks but not as bad as some say
Garlett - too skinny so will tire and can't kick
