Your premise is somewhat flawed.

Both coaches took over clubs rebuilding. you finished 3rd last in 09 and we finished 5th last. So the fact that we achieved two 9th place finishes in 2010 and 11, punching above our weight should not be held against us.

2012 and 13 we were a middle of the road side, no doubt.

2014 we finished 6th, a couple of wins of 4th place.

2015, all we had to do was field a decent side in round 23 and we would have beaten you, finishing 5th. With you finishing 6th as it turned out.

No doubt both of us need to improve and become more consistent throughout the year or top 4, and a real chance at a flag are just not realistic.

The one thing we have over you is that we do not have a massive monkey on our back come September.
one reason. you had most of your core on your list mate.
ironically your best year (6th) was when we had our worst and won 9 in a row for finals. its like we are changing places lol

My thoughts on it exactly, they have both fallen short this cycle and will need to start again like the Bulldogs had to after making 3 prelims.
disagree. we're still building a solid foundation. our core is now at a good point, now a lot of our draftees will push to be best 22 and increase depth or phase certain best 22 out imo

Tigers (of course :)).

Roos time is now or never, but I can't see them getting near the Hawks or Eagles in a cut throat situation this year (barring catastrophic injuries or a ton of luck). By next year some of the older brigade will be declining or gone, with the youth whose development they stifled either still on the sidelines or just learning their trade.

The Tigers chance will probably be from next year on, with a (hopefully) declining Hawks and a lot of development in the second tier (without which we won't have a chance).

Neither team will win a flag with their current crop at this stage imo, both they're lists are at their peak now and they have both yet to make threatening pushes into September (North less so as they actually seem to be able to perform on the big stage, unlike the tiggers).
They both remind me of us a few years back, 4 years of finals with a decent list without making a serious impact, then the drop off came with poor of-field decision-making relating to the football department (coaches, recruitment etc etc). Its just a matter of how long they can prop up their lists to be able to make one big push.

What games would you flag as losses for us?
Let me guess Geelong at etihad?

Took care of the cats easily enough the last 3 times

Yep that's in the past. This is 2016 we're talking about.

Adelaide (away), dogs (Etihad), Richmond, Geelong, West Coast (away), Hawthorn (away), Sydney (home) are all tenuous "wins"

All 50-50 or worse games for the ageing Roos.

We will beat Adelaide in round 1, i think they will slide this year so we are every chance of beating them on the road later in the season as well.
Dogs I've split the honors, i think we will beat them early in the season and they might nab us in the rematch later in the season.
Richmond we play once in Hobart, fair to say we should be favs in that one.
They were pretty awful down in Hobart last season.
Geelong we play ''away'' at Etihad our home ground.
West Coast away is always tough, but we do play well in the West it suits our gamestyle.

It will come down to the 50/50s.
You're also unlikely to beat West Coast (Away) either.

I would say 13-16 wins is more realistic.

Knowing us if it's early in the season it'll be losses. But we'll still beat Richmond, and Geelong.

You mistake lack of respect for "hatrid"

Win a final, any final first after your 3+ decades in the wilderness then get back to us

And neither.

Lol @ "hatrid"...
You can spin it however you want, couldn't care less..!

It's off season banter because certain Big Footy posters, in the main, don't have much of a life outside Big Footy, and have little else to do, don't take (anything) said around here especially at this time of year, seriously.

Funny, our fans think we'll beat you. Guess that makes it a 50-50 game then.

We have a ruckman fit and you'll get a good run for your money. Definitely no gimme game.

I think North are probably past their window and Richmond are probably not good enough but still have a slight chance under Hardwick. So Richmond.
