Which would you prefer?

A lot of trade speculatio has gone on concerning taz, with a lot focused on him moving to WA. Whilst I don't take any of this as gospel, the trades that have been thrown up are as follows:

Pick 16 and Rosa from eagles for taz
Pick 8 (on traded from a polak to richmond deal) from freo for taz.

I have also thrown in this deal:

Pick 13 AND Polak from freo for taz

Which of these would you prefer, if taz did go? I would say the eagles deal. But getting polak would be handy for us I think, given our aging backline (presti, clement, wakelin).

Pick 16 and Rosa for mine. Pick 16 could be used to snare a N Brown or another good mid, and Rosa would step straight into our young midfield as a another classy outside player to take the other wing to Pendles in the years down the track.

Pick 13 and Polak wouldn't be bad, but I don't think that will happen, and would prefer to get two player/picks than one, albeit higher.

I would love this to happen, but can't see it. I wouldn't mind Pick 16 and Butler.

Yes Murray, I think as each hour passes I'm warming to the idea of trading Tarrant because we're potentially going to have two top 10 (at least first round) draft picks plus a GOOD young player.

Polak I wouldn't take simply because he's a headcase. Where would we play him? CHF when Rocca (with a pre-season) will be pushing for it? FF with Rusling coming out of there? Back-up CHF with Travis Cloke hopefully improving too?

I'm liking the idea of Rosa or Staker because they're both very mobile who can hover around the wing/flanks. Staker I've always liked because he has a terrific overhead mark and is a smoother mover.

Perhaps a multi-team deal is required.

Read or heard somewhere that it could be pick 8 from Fremantle plus James Walker. But am positive Collingwood wouldn't even think of doing that trade. Just a rumour and I don't believe it either but thought I would mention it.

Same with trading Tarrant. I was against it but as the time goes past and with a top 10 pick maybe there I am starting to change. Also pick 8 might get us Selwood who I hope gets through that late.

OK. so I am really bored at work. thought i would come up with a HYPERTHETICAL complex trade. just interesting to see how some of the rumoured players to be traded could get to their destination. note: i may have screwed up some of the draft pick numbers, was just going off the top of my head:

Coll trade tarrant to Freo
Coll trade Jason Cloke and pick #44 to Essendon
Coll trade pick #28 to Richmond
Ess trade Solomon and pick #52 to Freo
Freo trade Polak, pick #13 and pick #30 to Rich
Rich trade Shane Tuck, pick # 8, pick #26 and pick #42 to Coll

in summary:

Coll recieve: Shane Tuck, pick #8, pick #26, pick #42
Coll lose: Tarrant, Jason Cloke, pick #28, pick #44
Ess recieve: Jason Cloke, pick #44
Ess lose: Solomon, pick #52
Freo recieve: Tarrant, Solomon, pick #52
Freo lose: Polak, pick #13, pick #30
Rich recieve: Polak, pick # 13, pick # 28, pick # 30
Rich lose: Shane Tuck, pick #8, pick #26, pick #42

I think this is pretty fair all round.

Coll would recieve pick 8 and tuck for taz and cloke, while upgrading our 2nd and 3rd round picks.

Richmond would slightly downgrade their 1st and 2nd pick, swap their 3rd round pick for a considerably better 2nd round pick, lose tuck, but gain polak.

Freo would swap their first pick and polak effectively for taz, while only downgrading their (late-ish) 2nd round pick for an early fourth round pick for solomon.

Essendon would swap solomon for cloke, while upgrading their 4th round pick for a 3rd round pick.



We are nearly the losers here. but i would do it. especially if JClo wants out and taz is leaning towards leaving. i rate tuck as a good in and under mid.
