I used to love my job and I mean really love it. But the company just undertook a big restructure and now I've been moved.

I have been moved to the promotions department. Before last week, promotions was half my job and I liked it, but I also liked the variety of all the other stuff I got to do.

This department is always on the go and everything is "urgent". I have been moved to a much more demanding and on the go area, however did I get a payrise? NO NO NO

They said that I was hand picked for this job because I am good at what I do. But they have tripled my work load and for what? NOTHING.

Now all I do is fix the mistakes of all the other dumb people that somehow manage to get promoted before me. And the job is now very repetitive.

It just seems like the people who have no idea get everywhere and the people who contribute to the profitability of the business are used.

Before I had the best boss. He would take me to coffee every day, he'd take me out for lunch, let me take his car and he was always very understanding and looked after me. Now I've got this woman who watches everything I do.

There's so much more but I'm sure your bored by now.

Maybe I had it too good and now I'm paying the price its really tough.

while ur whinging about ur job, ill whinge about my frend who whinges about her TWO jobs.

she does two jobs while juggling yr 11 and complains that she works too much! she's so greedy that she won't quit one and just keeps complaining!

she also NEVER spends money although she's got it rolling in and says she's broke becuase she only has $2000 in one account and $1000 in another account. Not to mentiont the $8000 in an account set up by her parents and grandparents!

Well I'm broke, because WORK won't give me any WORK, because it's a damn seasonal job.

My job is a doosie. I work as a grocery casual at a supermarket and customers are so naive. I nearly p*ss myself laughing everytime someone asks me to go out the back and look for something. They must think that the store room is a mirror of the floor.

The only things accessible, in grocery dept, are that weeks specials, soft drinks and confectionary. Even then you have to play uno stacko with palettes to get out what you are looking for. Everything else is sitting somewhere on a miscellaneous backstock pallet hidden behind that nights load or contained somewhere within the load which could be on one of 25 palletes wrapped in black plastic with the cartons of stock thrown in to them anywhere and in no particular order :D

I walk out the back, pretend to look around, and then come back and tell the customer "sorry we don't have any left" :p

Hurricane75,

You should be lucky that you have a job. Pity that your attitude has changed. What you need to do is be positive and ask around if you can help out more.

:p

Know it well! I used to work part-time at a supermarket and walk out for a couple of minutes pretending to look for the item, then merrily waltz back and say, 'So sorry, we've got none in at the moment! :D

hahaha well you're the reason we get so many customer complaints for out of stocks. BTW I work in Coles Buying so I know this scenario well even though I have never worked in a store.

Damn you lazy store people for killing my sales haha

Why would I need to ask if I can help out more, I have plenty of work.

What I need is a payrise.

The job isn't all that bad and it will get better as time goes on, but what I was doing before was just so great that its hard to be forced to move without a payrise. If they gave me more money I would be happy.

However I won't leave my job cuz the money is already quite good hahaha :D . The thing is that you are never happy with what you are paid, the more you get the more you want. And the fact that I could practically do my other job in 3 days and this one I need the full 5 days, doesn't help. I feel like they should almost double my pay LOL

I work at a Wholesale Florist that provides the majority of Adelaides florists, and all Woolworths in South Australia and Darwin with flowers. So weve just basically sold close to 600,000 bunches of flowers for the last week!!

The forewoman out the back always complains when we do bases that the privett we use looks crappy...because with privett (which is used as greenery...looks sorta shrubbish) theres usually one big stem that sticks out the top, and a whole bunch of little stems about 2-3 inches below that. So we usually have to trim off the one big stem so it gives the impression that there is more greenery there.

So i thought id save us up to an hours work by pre trimming this privett so it was all even, which in turn would also save us more time when we used it.

But noooooo, i get yelled at by the boss because i cut his precious farking privett, which looks like crap usually but saved us a good 45 minutes work when i trimmed it the day before and also looked a lot beter in the bases.

Cant bloody win in that job

That ****es me off to the extreme.

I think only because my bank account has very little in it, I have no job and no idea what to do with my life.

I need a job, I need money.

Well at least some of you have a "JOB" I was made redundant from a job I loved for 2 1/2 years!, due to lack of $$$$. :(

I am painfully searching for other one, which has been frellin frustrating at times.

At least I have the internet and the email option available, which makes searching for a job a lot easier.

Until a job comes along at least I have BF to keep me sane! :p

Shalom

Sounds like a badly run shop rather than stupid customers.

You obviously have never worked at a supermarket!!!

There is nothing that can be done about and it would be the same at every store. Storage space is at a minimum and when a load comes in you can hardly walk through the store room. The specials, soft drink and confec are put aside because they sell quickly but you can't do that with everything, the boxes would make a road to China.

Badly run is badly run. If time spent getting something out of a pile is worth more than the cost of the item then why have it? If more storage space is needed then more storage space is needed. If your boss ain't gonna spend the cash on storage then why blame the customer?

Out of stock = lost sale. One of the biggest sins in retail - although common. If it doesn't concern your manager, he can expect to lose his job soon. If the business isn't concerned...cest la vie.
The best retail stores run at 99% IF....that means, whenever Joe consumer walks into a store that advertises, or is known to have, a product...99% of the time it is there.

100% correct.

Our sales are huge on Monday/Tuesday but by Wednesday/Thursday they plummet because there is no stock on the shelves.

Its very frustrating from our point of view because we make sure that we order more than enough stock from the suppliers but the stores don't help when its sitting out the back on a pallet.

It works both ways. Most of the allotments we get are ridiculous. I mean this week we got THREE palletes of potting mix. Come the end of the week and we still have two left. What can we do about that?

I see a lot of stupid things that could be done a lot better. The problem being managers dont like being told how to improve their ways by 17 yo's and even if they could the bean counters would put paid to it.

Bluey, increasing storage space would never happen, I know that and you should. Big chain supermarkets are after one thing $$$$. Nothing gets in the way of the almighty dollar, even if the level of service is poor. They can get away with it too because all the supermarkets are run the same way, much like the banks. They are forever cutting back on the amount spent on wages which means we are understaffed and makes it extremely difficult to get the job done and often it is half-arsed. It doesn't worry the big wigs a bit, they can announce a record profit, give themselves a multi million dollar bonus and be set up for life.

You can blame people like me for that :p Yep you could say we get a few complaints about stuff like that. Although we have started to cut that kind of thing down now.

Well if people don't want to be treated like crap they shouldn't shop at supermarkets!! Go to the local fruit & veg shop, the bakery, the small grocery place! In the end that goes back into families, not into Mr Coles' huge bank account!

I don't know the exact figures but without Mr Coles, about 500,000 people would be unemployed in this country. ;) (maybe 300,000???)

The busiest times I've found are less to do with the specials and more with people's pay and spare time. On Monday mornings there's plenty of grannies with nothing better to do who munch up the specials before other people can ge to them, whereas Wednesday afternoon and Sunday night are the big times for the big $200-300 shops.
