Whitnall For Aka???

Just thinking that this could be a trade possibily. I know everyone is going to jump down my throat an say dont trade whitnall, though I feel that Akermanis may have a longer perid in the game than whitnall. I feel akermanis who's body is in super nick will play another five years, whereas whitnall I think will have another four. For some reason I just have these glimpses of when aka would get the ball and kick it to an inform lynch...geeeee ide luv to see him do that with fev...I understand Lance has had a great season but with a hartlett and our first pick will most likely be a CHB hopefully filling the void, parting ways would not be so bad. I figured we are not winning with him so why not take a punt and get the electrifying AKA...thoughts...dont abuse me if you think differently.

NO WAY IN HELL WE WOULD CONSIDER THIS TRADE! NOT EVEN FOR A SECOND!

Jason Akermanis will not be playing for Carlton...EVER.

Lance Whitnall will not be traded.

You may be right about Aker lasting longer. However without Whitnall we would have no defense and we would have no real captain next season. The only thing I'd trade Whitnall for would be a top 5 draft pick and that aint happening.

Aka I would think would beg Brisbane to send him to us.

Does our list not sort of remind you in a way of a young Brisbane outfit a few years back. Lots of young kids with great potential!

Remember 2001... they were pathetic until after round 9 (we belted them by 70odd) and then they threw off the shackles and won 16 straight to get the GF!

Next year we may see the shackles come off in the same manner. Our kids playing in the Bullants are getting that winning culture bred into them and confidence (much like North Under 19s with Carey and Co.). When we have a bunch of a dozen or so Bullant involved kids all playing seniors together in 2 years time that core will be confident, adept and know how to win.

Good times are ahead.

Pagan knows exactly what he's doing... it's called DELAYED GRATIFICATION. It's like when you're eating dinner, you eat the vegies first so you can finish your meal with the best bits. We are suffering a lot now so this 5 year sentence can finish with the best bits remaining!

Aka probably will last longer in footy than Lance, but at this point Lance offers us more than what Aka could. Neither trading or Keeping Lance is going to solve all our problems so we are best served sticking with the status quo.
I do have slight reservations about Lance being our next Captain, but I am also troubled to find another player likely to lead our club. Is it wise to select Lance as Captain when a majority of us agree the game will pass him by over a short period of time. Or do we take drastic measures and appoint a young player that will be Captain for the next 10 years (ala Sticks).
Rather than Trading Lance we should be looking at recruiting one or two senior players that will be leaders around the club. It may even warrant another thread.

Ahhhh...... no. I very much doubt Lance will be mentioned around trade time by people that matter. He should be our next captain and stay a blue forever.

I think you are very wrong there in saying lance's name wil not be up. He has won back some trade value, and could see us benfit through a deal at seasons end. In this world "you gotta spend money to make money" so taking a unt on a guy who has a maximum of 4 years in the game could result in far more benfits than he can offer...Personally I would not have him as the next captain...14 good games in 4 years still doesnt cut it for my liking...Get rid of him hile he has value

We all admittedly wanted his blood at some stage in the last few years. I even nicknamed him "fatboy slim", or said things of the manner, "he played better when there was a McDonalds logo on the ball cos he thought it was a cheeseburger and wanted to get it, that's why he took so many marks".

No doubt he's been great this year, but if he has a shocking year next year that could be almost it for him.

If he slows down a touch more, I fear his footy brain wont be enough.

This is one of the toughest things to think about.

Your wrong again mate. I never wanted Lance to go and ALWAYS thought he was champ. It is only cheap supporters who were on his back. And should be eating humble pie. Dont throw me in with your lot.

First off we dont want Akermanis at Carlton, id rather have Agnwin back. Secondly to lose a carlton great and replace him with a dipsh1t is moronic.

maybe you misunderstood by what I meant by wanting his blood. I meant more that we knew what potential he had but the last few years he wasnt delivering.

I never wanted Lance to go either and still don't. I decided to try to see this Whitnall For Aka idea from an outside perspective.

I'm all for keeping our true blues.. and I hope Whitnall doesn't lose pace in the next few years, we need him around for a while yet.

Lol. Have to agree. The irony is that for the first time in a while we don't need to trade anyone. Our list has lots of promise, and will look even better after we off-load a few and recruit Gibbs and co via the draft.
