Who are the most overrated players?

Before this season Travis Boak was the most over rated Port player by far over the previous few years. Fumbly, poor disposal, and limited impact yet opposition supporters always seemed to praise him

This year however, he is deserving of any and all praise he gets.
All Australian undoubtably. He has really stepped up.
Most of the Port Adelaide team is overrated.

Alex Rance couldn't even shut down Mason Cox in last year's prelim. A 6'10'' gumby that hates being bodied off the ball. Big Mase is handy on the lead and with a run and jump at the ball but good defenders know how to play him.

Never mind that when Richmond came to Perth to play a team with a good forward line in hot form Rance had no impact while Jack Darling took 15 marks (8 contested!) and kicked 6 snags.

Rance is a very good player but the hype in 2016/17 got out of control. Just because he looks flashy as a third man up and has a good rig doesn't make him the GOAT defender, and it certainly doesn't make him some once in a generation player.
Rance was playing on De Goey in the first half, always a mismatch, I have nfi why we did that but that’s what happened. 2nd half we put Grimes on De Goey, Rance on Cox and surprise surprise the pair were unsighted for the rest of the night.
Rance’s ability to read the play and know when to break off his opponent is what structured our entire defence until he went down. We’ve had to change our entire system to fill in the hole he’s left. And the new system still only works due to Dylan Grimes having a career best season.

I don't necessarily disagree with you there but I feel that what you said slightly undersells our backline.

Yet Tom Mitchell was Sydney's SEVENTH best midfielder when he played for them.

He had ahead of him in Sydney's midfield Josh Kennedy, Jarrad McVeigh, Dan Hannebury, Jake Lloyd, Luke Parker and Isaac Heeney.

At Hawthorn, he is their best midfielder (him or O'Meara), since Hawthorn no longer have Mitchell, Hodge or Lewis.

Mitchell being your best player says more about the state of Hawthorn's midfield, rather than his ability.

Lloyd, Heeney and McVeigh weren't ahead of Mitchell in 2015-2016. He also managed double-figure Brownlow votes in both those seasons, so he was clearly "rated" in some form or fashion.

Let's just all agree that Mitchell is a golden god walking amongst filthmen.

Jack Silvagni, Liam Stocker, Matt Tabenar, Charlie Constable,Gary Rohan, Grian Miers, Adam Treloer, Petracca, Lever, May and Dylan Sheil.

That’s not even the half of it. You can’t walk down the street without every second person trying to have a conversation with you about Matt Taberner.

Geelong supporters keep telling me how good Miers,Rohan and Constable are but it has proven to be incorrect.
No one has ever tried to convince you Rohan is anything, Constable and Miers could be anything but they're both first year players with nothing but a rising star nomination under their belt. Very weird call.

Just about shit myself laughing at that.

Funniest thing I have read on this site so far

He is not that but he is clearly a very good player.

Does not have the hurt factor of a Dusty, Fyfe or Danger but he is ultra consistent and in the conversation with them.

The three named above will generally go up and down over a game ranging from playing godlike during some moment's of game to being almost invisible in other parts.

Mitchell basically stays at A all game.

The media talk about Tippa like he is Cyril or Eddie. He's more of a Poppy. Brings pressure, kicks a few nice ones but he has a long way to go.

Tom Hawkins is bit of a flat track bully. Beats up on the crap teams, goes to jelly against the elite teams. A glorified Kent Kingsley, in many respects

Miss the threads about Rohan and AA calls earlier in the year? He had a purple patch that got blown way out of proportion.

what in the world? liam stocker and silvagni??????? anytime you mention silvagni an opposition supporter laughs and stocker has played 5 games???? in saying that stack is pretty overrated dont ya reckon?

Given he managed to score an All Australian Jersey last year ahead of Elliot Yeo, Shane Edwards absolutely deserves a mention in this thread

Stack? Underated if anything. Stocker is overated for the draft position he was taken imo but time will tell. Nice goal from Walsh on the weekend but Stack's similar goal was top shelf class.Stack is the most naturally talented player in the draft and the toughest pound for pound player by a long way.Im looking forward to see him with a full pre-season. Stack will always have Walsh covered imo because of Stack's talent and his stoicism and drive. He grew up on the streets with no parents, Walsh went to a private school and had central heating .

Mitchell and Sicily are better but Tipunwoodi better than Worpel, Henderson and Gunston imo.
Tippa is not better than Gunston...

Bresut, Jaeger and Big Boy also well ahead.

I would argue others but those 3 named above are a lot better.
