Re: who gets elevated off the rookie list now ?

Heard People say they saw Josh Thomas in a Moon Boot at the Family Day

Wow, didn't know filming, talkin bout your generation was so tough. Did Amanda Keller kick Josh Thomas in his scrawny leg? Didn't even know he followed the Pies. :)

Bolton or perham for mine perham kicked 6 in the intra club game done nothing in nab cup game bolton played well in intra club game and nab cup so i think hes just in front if we lose tarrant or reid its season over fingers crossed for the rest of the season

Bolton and Perham would be 2 likely to be elevated.

Maybe I could get my wish and see Cloke play down back :p I really think he would fit in well in defence, he has a great pressure game and tackles well, but hardly uses it down forward. Perham is hard as nails and could easily play back or forward, maybe slightly under size.

We could probably cover the loss of a KPP in attack more easily than defence. I am in agreement that Cloke be trialed down back. He once played a half at CHB and looked very comfortable there. With less pressure to kick goals, he can concentrate on improving his field kicking. Against the likes of Hawthorn and St Kilda, he would be a useful addition against a tall backline.

Many will prefer that Keefe gets a crack at the defensive role first. Reid was held back from senior footy for 3 years, after serving a lengthy apprenticeship at CHB in the VFL. Keefe may need another year.

Either of the 2 named above could be elevated, though hopefully no decision will be made until the players are more thoroughly scrutinised in pre season games.

No-one who went to the intra club match in person saw Perham kick 6 goals. It was apparently misreported by sportal.

In the little he has shown so far you would think that Bolton is the front runner if we decide to elevate anyone. But I think at this early stage any promotion is remote.

I think some people are getting carried away with our supposed injury issues. Nathan Brown is a big blow in a position more difficult to cover and therefore brings the issue of depth into greater contrast. But the reality is our injury list is pretty healthy as a whole.

Perham kicked 6 goals in the last round of the WAFL last season.

Sounds like some lazy journo has used google as his friend and just re-hashed an old WAFL article.

Fasolo also kicked 6 Goals in that game

No doubt that Brown is a serious loss but there are other combinations that can be used than just putting in Chris Tarrant

Leroy could handle a tall in the backline. We have players like Keeffe and Buckley who could handle a tall although it might be up to the more experienced players to play at full back.

And then we could be more creative and use Cloke down back. I know that sounds like we would be taking from a strength to cover a weakness but it might be the best option if Tarrant gets injured.

One of the strengths of the current team is its ability to cover for the weaknesses of some of the players. Its going to be a challenge but I still think we have the cattle to do the job before we get desperate enough to use a rookie

As good as Bolton looked last weekend he would be a long way down the pecking order for a senior spot.

Where we are lacking for depth is Key Position - with Fraser, Anthony & Presti coming off the list and Brown now injured there is not a lot of back up. We have it covered for the time being with Taz so the only chance for an elevation at the moment would be if Perham starts kicking some bags and one of Cloke or Dawes picks up an injury. Even then I'd think Keeffe would get a look in first.

you should know your senior list before you comment keefe is already on our list

Um yeah, but took this ref to mean that Keeffe [who is indeed on the primary list] would probably get the first gig at at KP fill in job than Perham [who, yep, is on the rookie list].

Nevertheless since Perham is a year older than the other KP rookies and has played in older WA comp than our Vic KP rookies, he may get a promotion guernsey quicker - if the need arises. He's a bit of a tough nut, which we might need if another tall goes down (Son of Anvil?)

Would Tom Young step up the depth chart and be in line behind Tarrant for Browns spot?

Whilst not exactly a gorilla he might get a run if Tarrant went down.

To answer my own question, he is the same Height and Weight as Pendlebury and played the HBF last year. Probably not FB material.

I think Young can be used to free up another player in the back line. I'm not sure he's ready to play on a strong forward but if he can take over someone else role so they can then be moved around it could be a possibility.
