It's a good point. Melbourne had 181 less inside 50's than Collingwood, who also didn't play finals. Imagine Hogan with another 181 forward entries and opportunities. As the midfield develops and he gains more size and experience it should serve him well.
Alternative to that is that Hogan would attract the ball going forward in a way conducive to contested marks (ie. Long to a contest) more often than a team with multiple marking targets or better skills going forward. So your assertion is flawed because there's plenty of factors to counter it.

It can't be "flawed". It's one factor among multiple factors.

Besides, we have one of the worst inside 50 counts in the league and ordinary delivery that doesn't 'help' a key forward. It's regularly not put to advantage.

The fact that the mark has to be "contested" is testament to that. Thankfully, Hogan is good enough to win more than his fair share.

I didn't say help a key forward, I said conducive to contested marking. Two completely different things. Worse delivery leads to the forward having to 'contest' for the mark more often.

But thanks for backing my point up.

You said a premise was "flawed" that can't be flawed when it's merely one of a number of factors.

It's a stupid comment.

Actually good delivery can put on the advantage side of the key forward where he has to contest but can easily protect the drop zone.

Mike Pyke.

Now hear me out, I don't think he was the best at any point, but I feel it should be pointed out that he was 5th in average contested marks per game in 2013. Deserves some kudos for that!

He ain't the best player but atm I'd go with Casboult. But if Cloke can return to form then that marking hulk of a man will reclaim that throne.
