What players on our current list are just simply not part of Essendons future.

IMO, these players should be traded/delisted

Mark Bolton
Damien Peverill
Joel Reynolds (a bit harsh, since he has been played terrible positions, but i just dont think hes good enough)
Aaron Henneman

And do you think we would be better off trading previous stars like solomon, mark johnson, etc and try and see what we can get, or this just being disrespecful to great club servants...

Also what players must get a game from now on?

Jolley
Lonergan
Nash
Lucy
Lee

THoughts?

Probably spot on with most things you've said.

Not a whole lot of point playing Pev and Bolton. The game looks to have gone past Pev and Bolts is probably playing his career best footy at the moment. But he's 28 next season and frankly, it isn't good enough.

Henno won't be seen this year because of injury. You'd think he'd be gone.

I think we'll see more of Joel in the seniors if he keeps performing in the VFL. He is still a young player, but the writing is on the wall.

Nash would just about play every game from here on in, form permitting.

I think we could very well see every player on our list this season. Longergan, Jolley and Lee could all very well play this week. I wouldn't be suprised if all three cement a spot. Hocking won't be far away.

Lucy and Neagle appear to be getting better every week. Could quite possibly see them play a game or two later in the year. And Firman has been playing some good footy as well.

Cartledge is probably the one with the biggest question marks.

How many changes do you think they will make to the list. There were about 8-10 last year, Longy can you check that for me, so can we turn over a similar amount this year? Nearly half our list in 2 years.

But for me -

Rioli - retire
Ramma - retire (although be given every chance)
Bolton - think we might get a trade for him
Pevrill - can enjoy his last years of playing along side Joey Misiti
Henneman - although can see him being kept, especially if Bolts goes.

And two potential trade baits -

Dyson and McVeigh

How many changes to our list will depend on how many draft picks we want and how many rookies we want to upgrade.

We could very well look at upgrading 3 rookies, if we decide we want to have 5 picks in a strong draft and one in the PSD, that will be 9 spots we need to free up. Although I think we may well look at leaving Firman and Hocking on the rookie list for another year unless they make a significant impact this season.

both will be part of the essendon future.. both hard at the ball and really highlight what essendon want in a player.. hate to see them traded and i dont think they will

Yes I know we can make as many changes as we want, but how many do you think they will make without destablising the club. I think Carlton has turned over more than 3/4 quarters of their list since Pagan took over and it doesn't seem to be working to well there. There has to be a balance and getting rid of another 8-10 players might be to much, two years in a row.

If we delist 9 (including retirements) and promote 3 rookies, we are only introducing 6 new players onto our senior list.

I don't think that is an overly huge amount, however I think 6-7 is more likely.

Questionable on Dyson, and i'm not convinced on him just yet. As with McVeigh I just get sick of his stupidity and un-disciplined play. Trying to headbutt umpires etc.

Is this the best list of rookies ever? Can't think off any another club promoting 3 rookies in the one year onto the senior list. Are we getting carried away with them? I can't comment as I've never seen them play.

We promoted two last year and retained Jolley.
Pretty sure Adelaide had Rutten, Bock, Mattner on their rookie list at the same time.

I was speculating. It's June, hard to predict what we'll be doing come September/October. A lot can happen in between. But Jolley, Hocking and Firman are all coming under notice by playing good footy. I'd be shocked if Jolley didn't play this week.

I knew I was opening myself up to be proven wrong. Again.
I just hope one of them can make it, and not like a Damien Pevrill make it, but rather an Andrew Embley, Dean Cox make it.

Don't think Embley was a rookie, just a late draft pick.

100 games from the rookie list is a good effort, if we got that from Jolley or Hocking, we'd be pretty happy. However both have more upside than what Pev had, it's a matter of whether they can make the step up like Pev did.

Firman is more of an enigma. Flashy, quick, skillful. He certainly has a very good skill set.

I am probably repeating myself from other threads here a bit...

I think the rest of the year should be all about finding out about the entire playing list. Hopefully each player gets a fair go and is managed well. All the players with question marks should be given a fair chance to prove themselves.

Of the rookie players, Jolley is the only one who we can't keep on the rookie list next year. So hopefully he gets a few games and we can decide whether to promote him. As for the others sure they can play a few games this year, but I would actually keep them on the rookie list next year, ala NLM last year. We will always have injuries to be able to promote them (plus if Rama decided to stay on the list there is one spot already open).

We will probably take a pick in the PSD and I personally think we should have at least 5 picks in the national draft.

The rest of the year should at least be interesting to see if any or how many players can mange to change our minds and force us to keep them on the list with strong performances...

Don't give up, we all have different opinions and it is good to discuss them.

By the way are you related to or know those girls who used to hold up the "Nuts 4 Bolts" banner in Bolton's first couple of seasons by any chance??

If we get a priority pick and also take someone in the PSD, that would mean at least 6 new players onto the list.

If that happens I'd say that they'd only promote Jolley (as he is the only rookie in his second year), as that would mean 7 delistings and I think after 10 the year before, the club would be hesitant to delist too many...

It depends on how many retirements occur though. If we lose JJ, Rama, Hird and Rioli (all possibilities) then perhaps we could turn around a few more people.

Bolts, Pev, Reynolds, Henno.

ANY Essendon supporter could tell you that...... thing is, will Sheedy actually do it?

play reynolds out for the rest of the year, see what he has got, i think there might be but if not i agree let him go, and look beyond the fact that his grandpa is a bomber legend
