Who will be our next Assistant Coach?

Burns would be great but I think if he Coaches anywhere it will be at the Catery.
Shane Woewodin would be ok he has a good footy brain but I would prefur a Coach that has played in a Premiership before that would be there only down falls.

How about offering Nigel Lappin a Coaches role!

Would rather some one who is from outside West Coast and has a footy brain..... Burns I would prefer over Woewodin.. Burn has a hardness that I like. That just my 2 cents worth.

I cant see Burns moving from Victoria and he will probably end up at Geelong. But I do hope that he does choose to come to WC. We definately need a person of his calibre.

Why not?

I mean he is a South Australian, its not like Victoria is his home state.

The main issue with most of these guys in their early 30's is they often have young families and are disinclined to move them too much for school and family reasons.

West Coast is a power club, more resources than Geelong and a chance to build the next great WC team, money wont be an object.

I guess we will see....

Also, on the Freo board they were talking about Jackovich being considered for a coaching role at WC..apparently was on the news..can anyone confirm this?

I assumed he was a Victorian. Makes me more confident now. :thumbsu:

Personally, I believe that Jako is pumping up his own tyres. West Coast have had all sorts of informal chats with lots of coaches including people such as Scott Watters. They havent interviewed them, just a chat. One suspects they are just checking all bases and getting as much info as possible.

Scott Burns....

Yeah. Jako was just on 6pr talking about the chat he had with Woosha and was considering it. He also said he'd like to see Sumich as the forward line coach!

Ahhh Cheers :thumbsu:

How awesome would it be to have Jackovich as the defensive coach, Matera & Walsh in the midfield and Sumich up forward.

The big thing with Jako he might not be the smartest bloke but he does know his football , when you here him commentate he says sensible things that us as supporters want to see. We couldn't do any worse with Jako I would sign him now.

I'd be all for him signing up to work with the backline. He definitely knows hiw stuff and I guess watching games with the media plus being involved with Souths (I think it is) has kept him well in touch of the game. I think it'd be a good move! The same with Suma working with the forward line. People can bag him all you want but we all know his achievements as a player.

west coast doing a good deed, getting him out of the special comments box.

Are you serious says sensible things.

i would prefer to get someone from a different club as these blokes have all played under the same coach so would not bring anything new to the table in regards to tactics etc.

My understanding was Jako was offered a developement coach role to work with all our backline players especially the KP's, and pass on his wisdom and training style.

So in essence not really a main assistant role.

Scotty Waters would be good for our club though, really would like him to come home to the club that gave him his AFL start.

Get him before Collingwood do.

Meanwhile, Glen Jakovich is on the verge of accepting a coaching role with the Eagles, who continue to target big-name assistants.

Jakovich will decide this week whether to accept an offer from Eagles coach and his close mate John Worsfold to oversee West Coast's backline.

Jakovich, 35, met with Worsfold for almost two hours last week when a formal presentation of proposed game plans and discipline values was pitched to the one-time defensive king.

Worsfold wants the former Eagles backman as part of a new-look coaching team to teach a batch of young West Coast defenders to "play the way" Jakovich operated on and off the field through his club-record 276 games.

If he steps into full-time coaching, Jakovich would walk away from a blossoming media career with Fox Sports and radio 6PR.

"The opportunity to work with John at a time the club is in a bit of difficult period, is very tempting," Jakovich said.

"John offered the position to me and it's up to me to decide if I want to go through the process to actually get it. It's very tempting because of the way Woosha has explained the role, which is very exciting to me.

"I have to make the choice whether I am ready to coach at AFL level right now. I think with what I offer and having experience with South Fremantle it has taught me a heck of a lot that I think I can impart at any level.

"The timing is probably right for me if I am going to step into coaching and to actually weigh up what my future might be."

Atm I would say this is the current list we should be looking at interms of our new assistant coach assuming he is to take control of the midfield.

West
Harvey
Burns
Roo
Bucks

Any others I have missed? I know i have.

read in the paper yesterday that scott watters wanted brad smith to go around again but he's got a development role with west coast.

good pick up. brad smith is just about the best big forward to never play AFL. he's got all the attributes you want in a person as well. add the fact that he'd know most of the boys down at the club.

it'll be good to have players like notte, kennedy and brown working with him.
