Theres no reason a captain cant serve a shorter term if they think its appropriate. See Bickley.


I think its ridiculous to pick our captain for next year on the basis that we might want someone else down the road. So many factors that could make that go bust. What if Danger never reaches his potential because of injury/other factors, what if, what if, what if...

Take the known commodity now, and deal with the potential future captaincy issue when its time.

Quite a few people in Bay 127 on Saturday were calling Danger, "Skipper". Kick the ball "Skipper", well done "Skipper", that's it "Skipper". I hope they get their way, this kid is a STAR and his commitment cannot be questioned.

Didn't anyone notice during Saturday's match who the first player to kick the ball backwards and across the ground was and do you really want him as our next Captain? We were in attack mode and scoring and he kicks it across slightly backwards and if my memory serves me correctly the ball was turned over for a Freo goal. Poor form!

What about giving it to thommo for 3 years with danger as vc then promoting danger to skipper after that period. This should allow danger tO become elite, and gives thommo a chance to concentrate on his footy when he steps down

VB and Dangerfield are head and shoulders above any other candidates for the captaincy.Their ability to speak publicly and represent the club in a manner befitting is exceptional, plus both players will always be certain starters in the best 22.

If the ages and match experience of the 2 were reversed, Danger would be the stand-out choice for skipper. However he is very young and doesn't need to be burdened with the many additional responsibilities as skipper well before his game has fully developed to the level it will eventually be.

VB for captain, and Danger as vice-captain. That in itself sends a massive statement to Danger that we want him to stay long term and ultimately be the captain of the club, something he has already stated that he would like to eventually be.

Lot of talk about Danger, but just been reading the Boak to Essendon thread on the Dons board, and apparently Danger is a shoe-in to go there next year, along with Boak according to them...........wishful thinking.......but funny reading.

Essendon supporters think a lot of things. Why would you want to go to Essendon of Victorian clubs? There not that great, their future is no better than ours or Ports.

And how you rating him now mate? Been a very important in for mine. Had a few shockers in his first game back and since then has been quite good with his ball use IMO. Nice long goal on the weekend too.

And given the debate on Captaincy.... craigy made some very interesting observactions about Symes contribution to match-day decision making with some 'invaluable' (can't remember exact words but they were glowing) feedback provided to him directly in the box.

For me.. ANYONE who can get Craigy to listen and implement changes as part of his match-day coaching deserves some consideration for our next Captain....

For those who think that is laughable... how different are VB and Symes in terms of what they bring to the table and where they sit in the B&F voting...?
