Who will we take?

...With Pick 4? I don't think C.J will pick us - this leaves us with Pick 4. Ebert? Cotchin? McEvoy? What are the Melbourne FC's needs and who will we take to fill those gaps in our lineup? If it was up to me i'd take Cotchin with 4, assuming he doesn't get picked up in the top 3 which is more then likely. Thoughts?

melbournemartin is right. Cotchin is really highly regarded as the best midfielder in the draft so he should go before we pick.

Anyone know anything about the new Selwood? By all reports he'll go pretty high.

Richmond is very keen on Cale Morton. Wouldn't surprise me if Carlton picked Cotchin up with 3 but there is always one player in the top 5 that 'slips under the radar' so to speak...i.e Buddy Franklin at 5.

I wouldn't want to use pick 4 on Palmer, Rance could be a go. Cotchin won't get to 4 which is a shame but if he was available I'd be all for it. The last Selwood is available to be drafted, but I'd be sceptical of taking him too high. He'll end up being taken 20 places higher than he normally would have just because of his brother.

hey guys new here, life long melbourne supporter.
Yea heard on friday on the good oil with mark doran on sen, that judd is sign sealed and delivered to melbourne, i wondered why he could make such a statement but if a guy who isnt know to any sports bookies in the whole country comes out and wants to put $25k on judd to come to melbourne he must know something.
I think judd is about 75% chance of coming to us now so really pick 4 is eralavant. Think the eagles could be wanting a accomplished mid fielder to go with that pick and i wouldnt be against giving up johnstone with pick 4 to secure judd(although i would rather give wce green), to much inconsitancey. Cant lose robbo if neita has another injury riddeled season we need someone who juddy can kick too.
As for John Messen wanting to come to melbourne i must say at first i was extremley excited of the prospect considering we need a new young ruckman. But after hearing from and asking my brother about John Messen (my brother played for the falcons and also with the cats on the rookie list) it seems he is a total bust or dud, apprently in my brothers words a replica of barry brooks. But you never know he could be a late developer like hamish macintosh was this year for the roos, all im saying is what would be a pick we would give up for a messen? i have a feeling it will be our second round pick so we could have both our top two picks gone. Dangerous pre-season of trading and drafting ahead could quite easily make us but could quite easily brake us for years.

There is already a thread about Meesen and I think most people agree with you, we could get the next barry brooks, but if he really has walked from the crows we can get him in the preseason draft, so it shouldn't cost us anything. As along as we dont go overboard on Judd, if we do get him the increase in support for the club should be able to balance off any damage we may do to our list. We aren't talking about Chris Tarrant here!

I have no idea to be honest as I know almost jack shit about the draft... but I've heard Morton would be great at Pick 4. We took a tall back with our first pick last year so I don't see the point in doing that again. With Rivers, Frawley, Carroll, Ferguson, Warnock etc we have that area covered. If Rivers stays fit and Frawley comes on then we will be fine.

Cotchin probably won't make it to Pick 4 and neither will Kreuzer (obviously) so it comes down to who is still available really - Bailey and Cameron will take the best available though.

1. Kreuzer.....Cotchin......Morton
2. Cotchin......Kreuzer.....Kreuzer
3. Morton......Morton.......Cotchin

Either way, Cotchin and Kreuzer will not be available, and Morton will most likely be gone as well.

The other mids available that should go this high will likely be Palmer, Masten (currently has OP), and Ebert.

KPP - Rance and Henderson
Ruck (less likely if you take Meeson) - McEvoy

Na mate my fav player is Nathan Carroll, not that i think he is overly the most exciting to watch or anything like that im just old-school and love the way he plays, hard tough has some mongrel in him and im sure he and brock mclean would make a mean tag team in the wwe. lmao Ya right though i do love matty whelan as well another guy who's hard. I think that is the thing i love most in players probaley because of the lack of apparent toughness we have had probaley since the days viney and tingay retired. To get judd to melbourne i pretty much would give up anyone on our list except for Brock Mclean and Russell Robertson, we need to get serious with some of these players that have had it way way way to easy under danhier, so far i have been very impressed with all bailey has done. To get judd seriously considering us is a huge huge effort when u look at who we are up against. A consitant tough team who were brilliant and really raised my eye brows this year, with world class facilaties (collingwood) and a team who has now already has got 3 1st draft picks in their team along with a blank check book waiting for him (carlton). If we some get judd which my mail says we will, bailey has already gained huge points in my book before the season has even started.

Judd will not give them ONE choice. This is a pipe dream. He will not Walk for free.
He will give his first, and second choice.

I actually do hope you get him. He barracked for you, and it would be good to see him at the Dees rather than Dons or Pies.

For myself, I'll be quite happy with our draft picks and wait 3-4 years to challenge........we'll be fine either way.

He has been touted as top 10, and is the best "pure ruck" in the draft according to many.

Kreuzer is better around the ground and in general play, but isn't the best tap ruck going around.

If you trade for Meeson I can't see you using this pick on a ruck though.

He'll go hig because of his brother Joel, not becuase of his ability. I heard he was not as good as his brothers.
