Hodge is a better kick and a better outside midfielder, which Richmond need a lot more than an inside guy.

We've all seen this thread in many different shapes over the years, and it probably doesn't have much of a lifespan tbh.

I'll let it stay for now, but if people cant help themselves and decide to Troll you'll be carded and the thread will be closed.

I would have thought most people would prefer Hodge.

He's more versatile, better mark, better skilled and more courageous than Judd IMO.

Judd is probably better at clearances and beating a tagger but Hodge offers more to a side I reckon.

Even though Judd is captain and Hodge isn't, I'd say Hodge is the better leader.

For those that say Judd by a mile, could you please explain more?

Please don't mention the Brownlows. I'm not trolling but Judd will always poll better than Hodge.

which your entitled to, and such is why others have said judd. "IMO" won't cut it as a good argument for who is the better player.

Do you disagree that Hodge is more versatile, better mark, better skilled and more courageous than Judd?

I just ponder why you wonder why so many are choosing judd (their opinion), while you can say its your opinion about something, and seem to think your right. It doesn't make sense.

And to answer your question, they're debatable, but judd has the runs on the board; no doubt.

I gave reasons as to why I think Hodge is better.

Other posts in here are just "Judd by a mile" sort of stuff.

I reckon Hodge has Judd covered in most areas.

Myself, and many others thought Hodge had the better year, yet Judd won the Brownlow. That's why I would rather it not used as an argument because Judd will always poll better than Hodge.

Hodge has been better than Judd since 2007 IMO

Judd is more consistent and there is a lot less between his good and bad. Hodge is a wonderful player but Judd would never be pantsed in a final like Hodge was.

Unless you are in the inner sanctum of both Hawthorn and Carlton you have no idea who the better leader is.

Judd is arguably the more consistent player but Hodge probably wouldn't have played that game if it wasn't a final. He injured his knee two weeks earlier against Brisbane down in Tassie and couldn't get up for the Collingwood game in Round 22.

Not sure about off-field, but Hodge is definitely the better on-field leader. Carried us all year.

Hodge has the ability to lift the entire side. Not sure the same can be said about Judd.

You didn't see Judd in the final against Sydney?

Nah, didn't catch that game. Was flying back from Perth after seeing Hodge play terribly against Freo the day before :D

I heard that Judd cost them dearly after missing a few very kickable goals, though.

Two Brownlows to zero.

One will be remembered by the entire AFL community.
The other by the Hawthorn FC.

Judd by the length of the unknown unknown.

I would choose Judd, but I think the brownlow argument is insignificant.

Port needs a full-time midfielder more than a mid-sized utility (as good as he is). Someone that can cop the number one tag in the midfield in order to let our other mids to flourish (pearce, rodan, boak/gray/hartlett).

Judd: Pure midfielder and ok forward on his day

Hodge: Midfielder gun, Can kick bags and won a norm smith at CHB.

Hodge, by a fair bit.

Judd played injured a few years back in the finals for WC and put in some pretty average performances.

I know that 'if you're out there, you're fit', but it's a bit unfair to then claim that these hindered performances are up to the usual standard.

I don't think there's any doubt that Judd's been the more consistent player over the course of their careers.

Just an example, while many claim that Hodge had a better 2010 (and he certainly had claims to best performed at times, particularly early in the season), he had 7 of 22 games with less than 20 possessions. 4 of those less than 15. Very quiet games for a player of his ilk. Has struggled with a tag.

Judd on the other hand, has had just the one sub 20 game this season (17). Probably the heaviest tagged player in the competition but very rarely plays a bad game.

Hodge's best this season has probably been better than Judd's but Judd for mine has played more good games than Hodge has. They've played some 370 career games between them - if you were to rank each individual game, I'd suggest that Judd would have far more games in the top 150 than Hodge.
