Who would you take from the 2003 draft- Sylvia or Walker?

Colin Sylvia has all the ability to become a superstar of the comp.

Andrew Walker does not.

good to read something positive about Melbourne for once.

Sylvia has definite Brownlow potential once the team gets going in the next few years - he should poll 5-8 votes this year in a team which won four games.

good to see he has taken the lead in the poll now.:thumbsu:

Yes, 'tis good to finally see some measure of sanity in the numbers on a poll involving a Demons player :)

Both average players but would probably choose Walker if I HAD to as he seems to have slightly more potential.

There was a month of football this year where Sylvia was maybe the best player in the comp you absolute cretin

Pretty sick of the amount of 'I didn't see Melbourne play all year but I know how crap they are' type of posters around here

Exactly right mate. The level of determined and militant stupidity I've seen from some opposition posters around here regarding our club and our players has been staggering at times...

LOL Good one Cogs:D

Sylvia's year was comparable with Deledio's. If he played at the Tiges he'd be in your best 4 players.

I rate Sylvia but that just isn't true.

Deledio, Foley, Cousins, Richo and Cotchin are all better footballers than Sylvia. I could also mount a case for Jackson and Tambling based on 09.

I disagree. Right now he's better than Cotchin and I prefer him to Foley. He's a better player than the others you mention.

I'll give you the old timers and Deledio, but interestingly Sylvia averaged 22 disposals this year, 6 marks and a goal per game. Deledio averaged 24 disposals and less marks and less goals. Sylvia's disposal is superb and he's one of the strongest marking mids/half forwards you'll see. His goals from outside 50 are breathtaking.

OK fair enough. You're probably right on Cotchin. I just seem to rate him higher than most because I can see so much potential. :)

On Deledio, it is well noted how poor he was under Wallace. When Rawlings took over he was consistently racking up disposals and kicking goals again. I expect both Lids and Sylvia to improve again in 2010.

I think Colin needs to play more in the midfield because it seems an area which the Dees need a little more polish. It seems a bit predictable when guys like Moloney, Jones and Mclean are in the middle together. :thumbsu:

Of course being a Hawthorn supporter you'd know

No i dont.

2006 won last 5 games to slip all the way to pick 6, instilled belief not this losing culture that is now instilled in the demons.
2004 won 2 out of last 5 to dodge wooden spoon.

After 2009 you would have to say Sylvia.

Walker had another injury plagued season.

I think Sylvia is a very good player but overrated by many Melbourne fans who put unfair tags on him.

Yes, how evil and devious we are for having between a third & half of our squad out through injury continuously during the course of the season...

And why shouldn't I be pointing out the obvious when the obvious needs to be pointed out...

Moreover, what's the point in coming up with wildly imaginative responses to a tired old inaccurate cliche that's been flogged to the point of extreme inanity and beyond...

Traded away senior players and played the kids to get some early draft picks, text book tanking.

Hey, don't shoot the messenger

Sylvia was an absolute gun for a part of this season and dominated some games. A full pre-season and injuries permitting he will be very good next season. He is far better then Walker

If i could be arsed i'd go through the 22 rounds and point out that at any given time you had maybe 5-7 top 22 players missing. Might have been a little worse for a week or two here and there but its hardly missing '1/3 to 1/2 of your best 22' for most of the season like you keep bitching and moaning about.

Missing random spuds that wouldn't influence the outcome of a game doesn't really count for much either. ;)
